How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Their credit card wasn't working, so had to drive to next town to find a cash machine.
The location was perfect, beautiful views, and the breakfast was amazing!

Great location right on the beach and just a short walk to the local pub aswell definitely recommend staying here if you are in the area.

NTR, everything was good.
Access to the beach was great, location to explore Achill Island. View on the sea from the room. Close to restaurants. Breakfast was good (choice, taste, etc, ...). Host is very friendly and helpful for infos.

There's nothing not to like
This is a real gem in Achill island. The location of this lovely b&b is incredible, ocean view and everything in terms of furniture and decorations is placed with a lot of taste. The bed is super comfortable and the bathroom has everything you'd ask for, including a bidet! Breakfast is definitely a highlight in Stella Maris, the buffet is rich and it includes croissants, yogurt, fresh fruits, cereals, lovely fresh bread, jams, butter, juices really the options are endless :) Great selection from the menu too, I would recommend their pancakes, delicious and great presentation. You would be literally just a few steps from the beach, with direct access from the garden. The stuff is very welcoming and friendly. I can't wait to go back again!

Great stay here. The weather held up for us which is a bonus. 😊 Room was lovely and clean. Bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was amazing had the pancakes two nights we stayed there.

Brilliant rooms and excellent location. Close to local attractions and easy, private access to Keel Beach. Our room had an amazing view and the facilities were fantastic. Clodagh was really welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and there was lots of it.

Home from home.Would highly recommend it..junior suite was fabulous with amazing views of the beach..welcoming hosts and gorgeous breakfast with huge selection to choose from. Achill is a beautiful place to visit.

Stella Maris is right on the beach in Keel, Achill's center. We could walk to the Aquarium, shopping, and restaurants, and beachcomb to our heart's desire. Our room was very large, well-equipped, and offered an ocean view. Breakfast came with the reservation and it was delightful. Our favorite was poached egg and avocado on toast. We would definitely stay at Stella Maris if we had the good fortune to be in Achill again.

Really nothing to dislike. Hopefully be back again soon.
Very friendly and welcoming owners. Comfortable room. Amazing location to beach with a fabulous sea view from room. Great breakfast selection. Loved the entrance to the property!!! So quirky and different!!! Short walk to a great pub for dinner/drinks as recommended by owners.

Would have prefered cups or mugs with the tea making facilities instead of glasses, but not a big issue at all. Found the beds a bit short

A fantastic stay in Stella Maris, which is over looking Keel beach located right at the end of the back garden. Stunning views and the most welcoming hosts, Clodagh was such a gem and couldn’t do enough for myself and my daughter. Great selection of pastries, scones, fruit and some hot dishes for breakfast helped set us up for our day’s adventure's. Perfect location with a number of cafe/restaurant/pub in walking distance of the B&B. We already can’t wait to go back.

I never asked for a ground floor room. My fault. The stairs were difficult with a walking stick.

Location, location, location - the B&B is just a few short steps from the beautiful Keel Beach. The staff were welcoming and the breakfast was very good. Would definitely recommend a stay here.
