The property was fine everything we needed. Had an evening meal that was fine. Woke at 3 A M to a very bad smell when I opened the toilet door. Had to open the window on to the street not ideal as neither of us slcould sleep anymore. Went to breakfast at 9am my wife ate. I couldn't. No shave no shower no wash. Drive 180 km home. Told Manageress she was very apologetic. Everything else was fine. Dirt in corners of shower but that was not what was causing the horrible smell. It was in my opinion a drain problem.

Tiny room, tiny bathroom, tiny sink, no shower curtain, being grossly misled about the room size and facilities, totally inadequate room soundproofing.

Mattress old style I felt all the springs. I had to ask for clean sheets. The room wasn’t clean properly. Walls very dirty. Disappointed.

We had a lovely stay here..staff were very friendly & Joe who was the proprietor was very helpful & everyone went above & beyond for us..we met Joe's sister Mary & neice Andrea who were lovely & had warm personalities that added to our stay 😍 The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous a 10 out of 10

I booked 2 nights on behalf of my priest who was officiating our wedding on 19AUG23. When he arrived at the property, he rang me to tell me the whole place was closed, no lights on, all doors locked and not a person to be seen anywhere, after paying €264 for 2 nights B&B. I had to make other arrangements for him at my cost (€130). I rang somebody representing the business on Tuesday 22AUG23 after the hussle and bussle of the wedding had passed. This man was the rudest person representing a business I've ever had the displeasure of speaking to. I was cut across on the phone numerous times when trying to explain the whole thing. He refused to offer his name and then hung up the phone as I was still speaking. This man's Dublin accent gave away his identity to his superiors. I phoned up the kitchen side of the property to try and speak with somebody in charge who were quite nice and assured me that the owner would phone me the following morning. I am still awaiting this phone call but something tells me the owner or whoever is in charge of this abysmal operation isn't going to call.

Bedroom slightly on the small side. Could of done with a cupboard/table in bathroom to put some accessories on. No chair to sit on in bedroom. Room 9 we were beside the water tank and could hear all the noise from people taking showers.

Absolute rip off of 150 euro for a room that was squashed in as an afterthought by a greedy landlord. I am only responding to this because I think it is unfair for someone visiting our country to be ripped off like this. Dont stay in room 1. Maybe the other rooms are ok.

Bedrooms- upstairs very small. Bathrooms- 20 second showers, nowhere to hang towels, wet toilet and upstairs lack of head height. Communal area- Very loud making it hard to sleep, tiny fridge for so many people, TV in a weird spot so you can’t really watch it.

I think everything was great.

We stayed at the Merry Monk for a hen party and the owners and staff couldn't have been better! They let us use an event room upstairs for doing Paint and Prosecco. Everyone was so helpful and happy to help us. The rooms were very quiet, clean and comfortable. The food was fantastic as well. Whenever I go back to Ballina I'll stay there for sure.

Everything. The room and bed was small. The shower was not clean and breakfast was served very late. The room was also very hot and looked like an aquarium.

The service in the restaurant was lacking both for dinner and for breakfast. For dinner it was staffed by many young teenagers running around like crazy. I suspect they had not been trained properly. They were trying but my menu had no prices and i asked 3 times for another one and they kept giving me the same one. The waitress both for dinner and breakfast didn’t write anything down and all of our orders were not exactly what we requested even though they said no problem for each of our choices. For dinner we had to ask twice for place settings after our meals had arrived. I asked three people for the bill and it never came - we had to go to the till. Food was ok however. There was one woman handling the breakfast crowd but she seemed stressed. I think she could have used some help. At least get them to write down the orders so they don't get mixed up. They were busy on the Sunday night and maybe they couldn’t remember everything with the hectic pace of things. The room was ok but the bathroom had no curtain in front of the shower so everything in the bathroom got wet. They could have installed some kind of curtain.

One small thing. The room we had came with a small bathroom with a shower without any curtains, the whole bathroom was wet after I had a shower.

Very friendly staff, big and tasty breakfast. Access to free coffee and tea in the seating room. The location is great, very quiet and on the way to the Downpatrick Head. Food at the restaurant was amazing and not too expensive. Free parking. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.
