Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomThere was no reception, the staff in the bar didn't anything about it. Was advertised as a hotel, was more a hostel. The room had no heating in it. Hallways were well heated though. Room was supposed to be a deluxe double, if that was deluxe, I would hate to see the economy room. Room was nothing like the promo photos.

IrelandThe property was fine everything we needed. Had an evening meal that was fine. Woke at 3 A M to a very bad smell when I opened the toilet door. Had to open the window on to the street not ideal as neither of us slcould sleep anymore. Went to breakfast at 9am my wife ate. I couldn't. No shave no shower no wash. Drive 180 km home. Told Manageress she was very apologetic. Everything else was fine. Dirt in corners of shower but that was not what was causing the horrible smell. It was in my opinion a drain problem.

IrelandI booked 2 nights on behalf of my priest who was officiating our wedding on 19AUG23. When he arrived at the property, he rang me to tell me the whole place was closed, no lights on, all doors locked and not a person to be seen anywhere, after paying €264 for 2 nights B&B. I had to make other arrangements for him at my cost (€130). I rang somebody representing the business on Tuesday 22AUG23 after the hussle and bussle of the wedding had passed. This man was the rudest person representing a business I've ever had the displeasure of speaking to. I was cut across on the phone numerous times when trying to explain the whole thing. He refused to offer his name and then hung up the phone as I was still speaking. This man's Dublin accent gave away his identity to his superiors. I phoned up the kitchen side of the property to try and speak with somebody in charge who were quite nice and assured me that the owner would phone me the following morning. I am still awaiting this phone call but something tells me the owner or whoever is in charge of this abysmal operation isn't going to call.

We stayed at the Merry Monk for a hen party and the owners and staff couldn't have been better! They let us use an event room upstairs for doing Paint and Prosecco. Everyone was so helpful and happy to help us. The rooms were very quiet, clean and comfortable. The food was fantastic as well. Whenever I go back to Ballina I'll stay there for sure.
