The beds were very uncomfortable. The food was excellent but pricey for bar food.

The plastic box, windowless rooms were a shock! It works (fantastic shower) but this is pure utility.

We stayed just one night. I would find the room a bit small to stay for several nights.

Beautiful pub. Friendly staff. Wonderful menu. Room was small but comfortable and spotless and fresh. Lovely freshly cooked breakfast the next morning and a very welcome fire glowing in the bar. The pub is rural, not in a town. We found it nice to arrive, settle in and then just relax there for the evening. There is lovely outdoor space for good weather and the warm fire if not. I highly recommend The Rusty Mackerel. Thanks to all for a lovely stay.

Due to proximity of the rooms…you could hear peoples conversations in adjacent locations.

Breakfast was ok…though not great. This may be due to the previous evening being exceptionally busy, and all staff were ‘a little stressed… Location next to Slieve League amazing…

A clean, comfortable room that was exactly as described. The location is great for the Slieve League cliffs and exploring the south of Co. Donegal. The food and drink offer is fantastic and the check-in process was really easy. I'd definitely stay here again.

Nothing to dislike. We were dubious about the 'cabins' at first... they are utilitarian and not very lovely on the outside. But you get it when there's bad weather... they are super cozy and comfortable. A bit tight on space and you can hear if someone's snoring next door, but perfect especially for an activity holiday. Loads of super hot water in the shower.

Buzzing atmosphere and an interesting mix of international travellers and chatty locals. Great location at the foot of Sliabh Liag and easy access to Glencolumbcille and, for us, the Atlantic megalithic tombs. A real feel of adventure in what's like an upmarket, cozy, backpackers hostel but with great pub-style food, comfortable beds and good wine at a good price. Breakfast is terrific if you like traditional Irish products. Open fire roaring at 8am on those wet days which occasionally happen in Donegal. Oh, and very good traditional music every night.

Not much. The rooms were a bit small; beyond that there wasn’t anything to complain about. Very well-managed business, with great ambiance. The fire in the main pub room was a nice touch, particularly on a damp, dreary day.

Fantastic pub, with a very friendly, efficient and welcoming staff. Great location, and lots of local customers. Loved the pub and food. The rooms were tiny, but sufficient and very clean.
