Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe had a room in the "cottage" outbuilding, which had a great view of the close-by water and mountains, but it was tiny--one dimension was just a few inches longer than our bed, and the other was perhaps four feet wider. We shared a bath with the other room in the cottage.
Djupavik is in a wonderfully remote area on the Strandir coast. It's reached by a well-maintained gravel road that follows the shoreline. The village itself is tiny, with the hotel as its only business. The hotel buildings are historic structures that were originally part of the fish processing plant from the 1930s, which is still standing. The hotel manager/chef gives an outstanding tour of the fish factory, very highly recommended. There's an art gallery with rotating exhibits in the factory. An excellent Icelandic breakfast is included. Also available are very good homemade soup and bread at lunchtime, and really delicious lamb, fish and vegetarian meals at dinner. The dining room is cozy and filled with interesting artifacts. The staff members are friendly and accommodating. Exploring the shoreline is interesting, especially at low tide. Hiking in the area is excellent, and the hills and waterfall above the town are interesting to explore.

Italybreakfast? improvable. I was surprised when asking for a slice of cake, this was paid for. for the rest, everything is ok
the owner very nice. structure nestled at the end of an Icelandic fjord. The exterior is very charming, with a disused herring factory and a shipwreck adorning the context.

NorwayA babbling creek runs beside the room, which I absolutely adore because it enhances my sleep quality. However, it might not be to everyone's liking, so it's worth taking this into account before booking.
I had the privilege of staying at Hotel Djupavik, and it truly ranks among the most exceptional places I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. The breakfast was delightful, the warm welcome from the staff was even better, and the tour of the nearby fish oil factory was simply awe-inspiring. The atmosphere here makes you feel like a cherished friend rather than a mere guest. Absolutely fantastic!

United StatesNothing!!
Hotel Djupavik is a very quaint old fashioned hotel near the old herring factory of Djupavik. The owner himself gives tours of the herring factory at 10:00 am. Fascinating history. We learned a lot! The rooms are plenty adequate and there is even a sink in each room so you can brush your teeth without having to step out of your room. Breakfast was excellent and we also had a wonderful dinner. We recommend that hotel if you want to experience something different and step back in time for a day!

IcelandIt’s good to be aware of the 44km dirt road. Normal SUV is fine but take it cautiously on the narrow parts.
Wonderful history of this building and town. Great staff - great food. Take the 1000 tour of the herring factory. Amazing experience. If you are needing 2 rooms, take the cottage rooms and then you just share a bathroom for the 2 rooms.

IcelandIt is quite noisy as the walks are thin but they provide each room with ear plugs
Great little cosy family hotel / guesthouse with good food and beautiful surroundings. This is remote and local family style, like you are staying over at your far uncle and aunt that you haven’t seen for a while and they are artistic and turn out to be telling great fun stories of the sea vibes, so if you are into that this is the perfect spot!

United StatesNothing - it was incredible from start to finish
Hotel Djúpavík was one of our favorite stays in all of Iceland. They provided us with a “home away from home” feeling and took care of us in more ways than one. We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff and the owners were exceptional, the food was AMAZING, and the rooms exceeded our expectations. I recommend that everyone stays here during their trip to Iceland.
