How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Walking distance to city center but far enough away it was more quiet. Friendly staff and comfortable beds.

The hotel is at a perfect location, walkable to the restaurants and the famous rainbow street (~20 mins). If you are renting a car, I would suggest parking at the harbour close to the hotel, it’s free! The staff are very friendly and accommodating. We had requested for laundry service (10,000 ISK), they did an amazing job, I didn’t expect them to give it back to me folded jn a black box lol. My favourite part about staying here was running into an orange cat chilling in the lobby!!

We liked it all! Just a very minor point, I felt the hotel should invest in coffee machines to improve the breakfast experience.
Excellent friendly service, we were given a room upgrade upon arrival which was an added bonus. Location was perfect for the harbour and all water based activities including whale & puffin sightseeing trips.

Our room was facing the back of the building where there's construction so it was loud.

staff were super helpful, professional and polite. The restaurant was fabulous. Bakery next door made great sandwiches for lunch. Overall, we were very pleased and would book here again.

Nothing really. Perhaps the lifts work under two separate buttons so you press the two and that consumes more electricity

The restaurant/bar staff are quite rude. It is about a 15 minute walk into the city center, which does not seem like much, but with the unpredictable weather it can be tough.
It was inviting, reception staff are exceptional — they go above and beyond to meet your needs.

The gym was undersized -- really looked bigger in the pictures. It seemed (fr Booking.com) that the breakfast was included but once we arrived, we had to pay extra for it. It was also hard to determine from the pictures how big the spa facility was.
Breakfast and spa facilities were awesome. Location is a little off center, but close enough to stores and right across from a bakery. The hotel restaurant was great and the staff were altogether professional and friendly. Great place, would love to come back.

The room had an unfinished ceiling . There's construction next to the hotel. The hotel is a bit away from the city center, around 12 minutes walk. While the bathroom size is good, it has a very small wash basin sink.
The hotel has many facilities, including a nice spa. There's a free parking lot nearby. There are restaurants, supermarkets, and gas stations closeby as well.

There was an issue with a smoke detector going off on our last night there. It turned out to be nothing, but it seemed like there was not a robust procedure in place for handling the situation. Naturally, a lot of guests ended up calling the front desk, but it was of course busy except for the lucky person who could get through. We left via the fire escape after calling the front desk once, but many people stayed in their rooms and continued to call instead of taking action. I feel that some sort of announcement or maybe an automatic message in situations like this would improve the safety situation.
Our room looked better than what we saw in the photos, so that was a really pleasant surprise. The location was excellent, with the harbour and also the central district within easy walking distance. There is free street parking nearby, and if that happens to be full, you can also park for free in the parking lots of some nearby larger stores.

The layout of the room was a bit unorthodox - the sink was outside of the bathroom. Also, the bathroom floor was cold. There could have been information about the spa and restaurant menu in the room as well - it would have helped to have this information at hand and would have encouraged us to use the spa and the restaurant.
The location was excellent - 15 minutes walk to the city center. Great neighborhood - very quiet residential area. Extra bonus - three big supermarkets really close by, great for shopping for local delicacies. In the hotel - really nice breakfast, friendly staff, excellent cafe with really good coffee and pastries. Comfortable bed, very clean sheets.

Cleaners came in at The end of The day when we were already back after a day out and wanted to chill in our room. Other than that: great stay!

Exceptional! I truly cannot say enough good things about the hotel, the staff, my room, the spa, the location, breakfast was great (they do a proper spread)…I highly highly recommend.
