Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandThe stay exceeded out expectations! The owner was really nice and helpful - she gave us some great recommendations of non-obvious places worth seeing in the area. Even though there was no official breakfast, there was a kitchen with some essentials (cereal, milk, tea, and really tasty coffee) where you can prep a breakfast or cook some dinner. We will be definitely coming back next time we're in Iceland.

NetherlandsYou can easily hear people walking by your room in the hallway, but that didn't bother us too much.
Nice guesthouse just a 10-minute drive away from the town Vik and super close to Reynisfjara beach (at the end of the street) and Dyrholaey. Comfy room, clean and spacious showers and a nice dining room. There is also a kitchen with dish washer and some free coffee, tea, cookies and cruesli available. Self check-in was easy and at the end of our stay the owner(?) gave us some information where we could go to see puffins.

United StatesAlthough the beds were very comfortable they were also very narrow. Also would have been nice to have better lighting over the sink in our room.
The location was very easy to find... the hosts were there at check in and very friendly and accommodating. The place was very clean.

United StatesRoom was a little warm. I think they can probably use those thin sheet blankets and be fine. Windows open so that helps. The wall outlets were hard for converters to stay in. Mine fell several times.
Plenty of space in the kitchen for several ppl to cook. The view in the dining room is great. Sink in the room was a plus. Plenty of room in the fridge. 3 shower rooms. Pretty quiet for so many rooms. There is a friendly dog across the street that likes to get pets from travelers.

United StatesThere was a big kitchen for everyone to prepare their food, to store their food in the fridge, (NO freezer ). Coffee, tee, cereals were offered in the morning. A few WC, and showers were available and everything was clean. The guesthouse was right next to the black sand beach.

GermanyNothing in particular
The hotel is really close to the black sand beach and the ringroad. The beds are comfortable and there are pretty huge shared rooms and especially a big kitchen you can use. Despite oficially not including breakfast there was free cereal for breakfast. Also there is a nice patio with a beautiful unobstructed view facing the sea. Price-performance ratio is excellent.

United StatesThis simple yet completely clean and sensible guesthouse is bigger and nicer than I thought it would be based on pictures I saw when I booked. Begga, the owner, informed us that they expanded it recently by adding a large kitchen (with coffee and teas, plus full cooking stoves and fridge) and dinning/reception area, with views that overlook Dyrholaey. And her recommendation to try the lamb soup at The Soup Company could not have been more perfect.. it was the best I tasted in Iceland. The room with 2 twin beds we had was spacious, but I am not going to fib.. my favorite part was the family of sheep that were outside our widow that stayed on watch across the road (and that we saw puffins at the beach just 2 mins drive down the road)

IcelandSome parts of the room just need minor repairs. Most likely from wear & tear over the years: power socket & pulley for the curtain blinds
My family and I were very happy staying here. I really loved the service of the host, Begga. She took very good care of us despite the storm happening in the area. I could hear the wind whistling which meant no chance for outdoor activities with a baby. But we had a very relaxing time staying indoors which is a luxury for a young family like ours. We were checked in at room 9 and we have a magnificent view of the Reynisfjara beach and Dýrholaey cliffs. The dimmer & black out blinds were a big plus for us to get some shut eye since summer daylight gets too long. Our stay was very comfortable especially for our 8 month old baby and we were glad to sleep an extra night. The kitchen & dining facilities are well stocked and family friendly. High praises for the professional cleanliness of the guesthouse. We will for sure stay here again when we travel south.

Austria-
The guesthouse is directly at the black beach, as in you can see the beach in all its beauty from the common room. There's breakfast and coffee and tea provided for free and it's incredibly clean, especially for a house housing guests in 10 rooms. I was a bit squeamish about shared bathrooms at first, but again, they were very clean. Best of all were the hosts, who were nice all around, extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the surroundings. Also, very good price!

United StatesThere were guests coming in late and leaving early - one day guests showed up at 1-1:30 am and they were very loud. Woke me up and could go back to sleep. The very next day the same group or a different group woke up at 4:30-5 am and were very loud walking up and down the hall talking loudly, kids running up and down the hallway. It would be nice if they had a sign that said quite time at 10 or 11 pm and to be respectful of other guests with noise.
Great location
