As the building is old, there are very few sockets. The garden was unfortunately closed. There is no fridge in the room or any opportunity to use one in the hotel. The hotel is old and some parts are dilapidating.

Hotel was very cozy, the room was big and nicely decorated. The bed was amazing. Staff was very helpful and our room was cleaned twice a day. The street is quite but the hotel is very close to the city center.

The hotel is more of a bed and breakfast than a hotel and so there weren't the facilities, such as a lobby or restaurant, that most people are used to. Heads up to people (as I've seen complaints about this) - you need to turn your room key in at the desk each time you leave and ring the bell to enter. This did not bother us at all as we never had to wait to be let in and were always greeted warmly upon return.

The whole atmosphere was welcoming. The bed was comfy, the place is immaculate, there was absolutely no noise, and there were special, personal touches that you would not find in a chain hotel.

    N/A

The hotel was centrally located to everything in Reykjavik and near two major bus depots/stops. The rooms were clean and fresh, and the staff was extremely friendly. In fact, they must employ some of those Icelandic elves we were told about, because how could only two people run the place to such a high degree 24/7. Finally, they offer a nice European-style breakfast each day, which really helped get the day going and fuel us for our adventures. We highly recommend. P.S. don’t mention the black sand beaches! :-)

Our stay at the hotel Phoenix was very pleasant and we can truly recommend it. The owners are very very helpful and it was nice to have a little chat with them whenever we got back to the hotel. The breakfast is rich and visually appealing. The decoration of the entire hotel and also of the room make you feel at home. Everything is very clean and well maintained. We had a room towards the street but during nighttime it wasn‘t noisy. We found it extraordinarily nice that there is a roomservice before sleepingtime with a little chocolate.

The Phoenix Hotel is a charming surprise in Reykjavik. It is close to the sights of the city centre, and offers very quiet rooms that are tastefully decorated. The included breakfasts are superbly done. The owners are extremely friendly hosts who took great care of us and provided lots of information about the sites of Reykjavik. This was the perfect place to stay while in Reykjavik!

    We loved everything

Everything. Especially Jon and Steindor were exceptionally welcoming and kind to us. Jon helped us find the best excursions, gave us the history of their beautiful island, he spent a lot of time making sure we were happy. The breakfast was delicious. It’s absolutely the best stay ever.

The front entrance is locked 24/7 room key must be submitted every time you leave the hotel. This is more of a guest house or B&B not like a hotel.

Central location in Reykjavik easy for bus tour pick up points, clean room - comfortable bed - decent breakfast...very knowledgeable and helpful owners - 24hr reception desk.

You'll be dependent on the staff to get in and out of the hotel. The best part of a hotel stay to me (and probably many others) is the buffet breakfast, which they don't provide. They generally offer little flexibility regarding dietary restrictions or preferences. Had I known how the breakfast was, I would have booked a different place instead. With the price and the reviews, I expected the property to be the same level as other hotels in the same area, but unfortunately my expectations weren't met.

The rooms were very clean and the interior design was nice. Friendly staff.

Manager was snide. No minifridge available. No ice or means of refridgeration. Would not allow us to place our cold packs in hotel's freezer He was very rigid. Assistant was great. He was very helpful in suggesting places to go, restaurants, and ways to navigate the city and tours. Opposite of manager

DONT STAY HERE NO MATTER WHAT. Spoke to the police as well. the manager is the worst ever. He was very rude and sarcastic all the time. He barged into our room and threatened us because we were 5 mins late for check out. He almost came to hit my lady. He refused to leave the room. Horrible horrible manager. Please don't stay here as you would need to leave keys with them whenever you go out. Unprofessional to the core and doesn't know how to treat tourists. There are plenty of better hotels. Skip this!

Only the location is decent to the main downtown places.

The hotel is a little too strict with their timeliness around breakfast, check in, etc. They also don't have luggage storage facility.

Very small shower cabin, very soft bed, no option of a breakfast outside of breakfast hours, no kettle in the room, no elevator, very small breakfast area, you basically see what your neighbor is eating, no choice of food, always the same set, that is being served to you like on the plane. Not very friendly staff. Only one socket in the room, which you can use either for a phone charging or hair drying, not both at the same time,or 2 devices at the same time

Location is very central, however on the road with its noise from cars and from drunk people walking white nights long
