Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNo cons!!! If we ever come back and plan on visiting the south coast again, we will be returning to see Ragga and her animals!
Ragga was the best host!!! She messaged me the day before arrival with information about checking in and asked for us to confirm, if we knew about what time we thought we were going to be arriving! We told her we were going to take our time since the weather the day we were driving from Reykjavik was kind of rubbish, but planned on arriving between 4 and 5 - she greated us at the door, full of information about the guest house and farm, but also about points of interest around Vik and provided a map for us as well :) The location is less than a mile up the road from Reynisfjall/Black Sand Beach AND you can see Dyrhólaey from the house (I LOVED the view from our room). Its in a great location if you want to just stay around Vik or drive out 1-3 hrs to various locations along the Ring Road (i.e. Glacier Lagoon, Diamond Beach, Mýrdalsjökull, Eyjafjallajökull). If you stay here, be sure to take the time to just walk around Vik, we spent one day just staying local, the Soup Company, Black Crust Pizza, Skool Beans Coffee are just some of the excellent places in town! The highlight of staying here were the ANIMALS - if you love animals, you will see plenty (and one of the main reasons I wanted to stay here). Ragga's 3 dogs will great you with wagging tails, the barn cats warm purrs - AND she will give you a tour of the barn where the sheep are...if you're lucky, new baby lambs may even be born during your stay - we got to see one that was born the first night we were there :)

United KingdomNothing. All was perfect. Thank you very much!
We absolutely loved this stay! The owner is lovely and full of information, she gave us a little map of area and recommended a few attractions. We could even go to the sheep house in the evening and see all their sheep and lambs, and feed the horses. I would definitely stay here again. One of my favourite accommodations. The location is also perfect if you travel around Iceland. The view from our room was lovely, we could see the nearby church. All very nice and clean.

CanadaSuch a lovely place. The room and kitchen are spotlessly clean. Einar and Ragga took the time to show us their sheep and horses. Their three dogs are so cute and friendly. We spent the evening playing with them while watching the sunset.

LatviaOne of the cutest places we have ever stayed. The host treated us like family members. The house itself is located near the most famous beach of the Iceland, you can get there by foot. And after driving 2 hours around the Vik to see the Northern lights,we saw them in front of the house, when we came back.

TurkeyThe house we stayed in was very authentic. It was our fourth day in Iceland and the fourth guest house we stayed in. Considering we have enough guest house experience, it was the best house we stayed in Iceland. The hosts were very kind and understanding. Before we arrived home, they provided us with the necessary information very clearly and helped us. After we reached the house, they gave us information about the environment. We had minimal communication with the hosts of the houses we stayed in before. The owners of this house welcomed us as if we were their friends. There were some surprises waiting for us at home. We had the opportunity to see the farm and animals closely. Meanwhile, we found answers to some of our questions about life in Iceland. In addition, the house was very clean and the guest groups staying in the house had separate bathrooms. The location of the house made us happy because it was very close to the beach. It was also quiet because it was in an isolated area. Many thanks again to the hosts.

United StatesThe only potential downside is there are 2.5 shared baths for the whole guest house so 2 showers. We did not have any issues having to wait to shower, but it's something to be aware of in the hotter summer months. It's so worth staying here, just know that you will have to be courteous to others and maybe wait a tiny bit.
We loved our stay here! The location is so great and stunning. It's a beautiful farm just a few minutes drive from the main part of Vik so very easy to get to restaurants, meeting points for tours, etc. We were greeted by 3 very friendly doggos that we got to pet and play with the whole time we were there. Our hosts also took us to meet their sheep, horses, rabbits, and cats in the barn! They are so sweet and funny and we had such a great time meeting their animals and getting to talk with them. Ragga is hilarious and the communication is very very good. We absolutely loved staying here and even got to see the northern lights here! It was magical.

CanadaStayed two night at this charming spot with a friend. A warm welcome upon arrival and helpful introduction to the area. Hosts were such a kind and supportive presence, and the common spaces felt private even with other guests on the property. Excellent kitchen for meal prep. Hosts invited us to meet the ponies and attend the feeding of their sheep, total highlights! View from our room was extraordinary and property is but a short drive to the black sand beach.
