How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

It’s expensive.
Breakfast buffet and location of the facility. Also, we LOVED the heated bathroom floors. Our room was a great fit for our family.

Price was a little steep for what it is and the restaurant had few options to choose from at dinner. Beds were okay - not terrible but also not great.
Breakfast was fantastic. Location is good, short walk or even shorter drive to black sand beach. Rooms were very nice and staff friendly at check in.

The room was well appointed, the bathroom was big. The bed was VERY comfortable. We enjoyed the bar and happy hour. The food in the restaurant was good and the breakfast buffet was very good.

Parking was not the best but it worked. Lots of space just had to walk a ways to your vehicle as huge lot but not much parking close to entrance.
Excellent breakfast with wide selection of food and constant attention by staff. Best breakfast we had during our month long trip! Wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy it more mornings.

The only downside to the room is the fact that there is no mini fridge to store food if you had leftovers.
This hotel was well located right in the middle of Vik and you could walk 20 min to the Reynisfjara beach on foot. The service was excellent and the breakfast was great and had so many options. The room we got with 2 single beds was a decent size and everything was clean. The rain shower in the bathroom was a great luxury.

Great location, plenty of parking, great breakfast, and very friendly staff. The restaurant on site was also really delicious. Beds are comfortable. Shower with good pressure and plenty of bathroom sink space to get ready in the AM. Very well thought out room arrangements.

I book handicap room and there iis no shower stool in bathroom. They should put a small stool for changing clothes

Vik is a lovely village. Very beautiful and the hotel is a perfect location. The breakfast was lovely. Beds were really comfy and the two children’s beds were upstairs.

Quite expensive, though probably acceptable for Icelandic standards…
Great room for a family of four (we had a duplex room), large and comfy, the shower was amazing, view was nice (looking at a cliff with lots of birds nesting), breakfast was great. Would recommend to stay here!

Hotel is in a good location, breakfast had a lot of options and was delicious. Staff was very friendly. I would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Vik!

There are flys in the lift. I got bitten during my stays. Remember to bring flys repellant around.
Breakfast is great! My room has a great view of sea and a part of Reynisfjall. It was really nice! Room was also nice.

Stayed 3 nights. Views of a building site from our bedroom window.. Had to keep curtains closed because there were no net curtains. Small bedroom and bathroom. No safe, [there is a safe in reception), no fridge, no room for an armchair. Poor lighting. No fan in bathroom. Really poor value for the price I paid. Stayed in 2 other iceland hotels on this trip. Both were better and cheaper. I always read travellers views before booking and in return try and give my honest views.
Great location close to the beach and restaurants and a short drive to places of interest. Staff pleasant and helpful (cleaning,reception,restaurant). Breakfast ok. Public areas good. Plenty of free parking.
