Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThis place is an absolute gem! Francesco has exceptional hospitality and is always willing to provide invaluable recommendations for the Cinque Terre area. His lovely personality truly made my stay unforgettable - you really feel like family staying here. The complimentary wine, tea, and biscuits in the common area were cute touches, and the breakfast (from his brother’s cafe next door) was delicious. The dorms were spotlessly clean, and the bathrooms were fantastic. The location is also unbeatable - just a two-minute walk from the station. Hands down, this is the best hostel I've ever stayed in and I can't wait to come back! Grazie mille, Francesco!!!!

United StatesMy only comment is I wish there was a couch or comfortable armchair I could hang out in.
Francesco the host was so warm and friendly, and gave great advice on things to do! The small hostel atmosphere made it fun and easy to meet people. The place was very clean and wasn't too crowded. Great location near Cinque Terre but also access to lots of restaurants.

BrazilEverything went perfect.
I'd love the vibe of this place. It's a small hostel managed by two brothers, Francesco and Antonio. Also, you have a bar/bistro, Ciao Baby, downstairs serving great food. The bathrooms are great and you have plenty of space in the rooms. There is not space for a lot of guests, I think there is only 2-3 rooms, so is easy to met everybody in the kitchen and downstairs. The hostel is just a few steps from the La Spezia train station which turns to be easy to explore everything around like Cinque Terre villages.

AustraliaAC is slightly ineffective in the dead of summer and breakfast is modest.
Francesco our host was easily the best thing about my stay at the hostel. Accommodating, friendly and informative about the nearby Cinque Terre region. I would definitely come back here for my next time. Toilet facilities are new and impeccable. Literally two minutes walk from La Spezia so it's perfect for those who are looking to train it to the five coastal towns.

CanadaThe only ONE thing to note is that the door locks (including the washrooms) make a loud click every time it is being opened and closed. So if there are people leaving early in the morning, it is easily heard and can wake you up. BUT, since the beds are super comfy, I just end up going back to sleep :)
What can I say, by far the best hostel-style accommodation I've stayed in, and I've visited a lot, including Asia. COMMUNICATION: Ease of communication via Booking.com platform. Francesco is easy going and very keen to share recommendations and provide help. LOCATION: Very close to train station, easy to find. There's ample space in the rooms and washrooms. There's privacy provided even in the washrooms with its individually enclosed toilets. CLEANLINESS: Very Clean! Francesco prides himself with the cleanliness of the place. He makes the effort to clean the common areas every morning when everyone has gone out and ensures the facilities are clean and organized. One of the cleanest bathrooms i've been, and the water pressure is amazing! A hot/cool shower at the end of the day after hiking all day was something I also looked forward to. COMFORTABLE: Very comfortable beds! They also have privacy curtains, which I've only seen in the hostels in Japan, so this is a big plus for me! BREAKFAST: Awesome breakfast served every morning next door at Ciao Baby where they make their homemade Focaccia bread and granola. :) They make a great cup of cappuccino as well. ATMOSPHERE: Every one is so nice! It may be due to the awesome group staying at the time I was there but I had a lot of fun and getting to know the people during my stay. :)

JapanBest hostel I've ever been to. It's a very good memory. First of all, the inn is very clean. Thanks to the owner's good cleaning, the residents try to keep it clean (dirty inns tend to get dirtier, but this is not the case). It's very secure and very close to the station. All environments are perfect. Secondly, the owner of the inn is a very kind and gentle person. Soooooo nice!!!! also, Many of the residents came to the Cinque Terre for trekking, and many of them were lively, cheerful and friendly. My best memory was the talking with kind people there. With wine in hand, we talked for about three hours in the cafe area. Elizabeth was the only one whose name I heard, but I will never forget all the others. It is definitely a place where you can have a wonderful time. I recommend it with all my might!

GermanySuper nice hosts! The place is not too big, so it feels really familiar there, e.g. the hosts know all guests by their name. They also had many great suggestions about hikes in Cinque Terre. The breakfast is amazing. The station is just 2 min away and Cinque Terre is reached in 10 to 20 min. Clean and quiet place.

FranceNo real common room (I didn't care, but some might) - there's only the bar (open to all) downstairs in a courtyard. It's a really nice one though Shower is tiny, you can't really change in there, as there's no place to put your clothes where they wouldn't get wet. You can put your towel inside and get your clothes from the room once you're done, and then change in the shower - but it's not really convenient and I personally don't love that But great stay overall, definitely recommend it!
Staff was amazing, incredibly nice and friendly! I was only there for a night and planning to wake up early so I didn't try to chat with other travellers but it's clear the staff tried to make it a friendly place - introducing me to everyone in the room, and offering a glass of wine at 7PM so people can meet Location is great, right next to the train station, and close to the center of town Beds are little curtain by the pillow, which is always a nice thing Good sturdy lockers with key provided - no need to bring your own lock
