How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Spacious peaceful room away from mass tourism 20 minutes walk up the hill from Brignole Station (also easily accessible by bus). Nicola our excellent host not only provided a great breakfast but also gave us fine insights into Genoa life and history.

Nicola(the host) patiently waited for us as we arrived really late due to some issues with our transportation. They were also flexible regarding the breakfast time, gave some information about the city and the nearby attractions.

Everything! the hosts are very nice, big and nice bathroom, very clean. The breakfast was excellent and large. I would recommend staying here.

Everything ! the place, breakfast and surprising food attentions in our room…the welcome, Patricia, Nicola and their daughter are very nice! They waited us till our arriving. We had a big delay with French strikes and arrived at 4am … so a big thanks for their patience and hospitality, very appreciated :-)

The fact that the B&B was part of the hosts' residence - it was in a beautiful and stylist early 1900's apartment and we were very welcome to share the home with the hosts.

There was some confusion over the name and password of the WiFi and this took some time to fix.
This ensuite private double room in a private apartment on the second floor was magical. The Italian hosts whent out of their way to make us feel welcome and helped with our every need and answered all our questions. Accommodation is located in one of Genova's up-hill neighbourhoods, about a 20-30 minute walk to/from the historic city centre. Close to the apartment/guesthouse are stone steps that take one down to a nice piazza (square) that has a nice cafe, an inexpensive restaurant and also a minimarket. Bus stops for the centre are also at the small square. The second floor apartment is reachable by stairs or lift/elevator. The room had a large comfy double bed with extra pillows, duvet, and sheets. towels are provided. A fantastic buvet style breakfast is included in the price. Breakfast includes tea-coffee, yogots, cold milk, butter, several jams, two different types of bread, croissants and fruit. Also small chocolate eggs on ocasion. The ensuite bathroom is large with good shower, toilet and bidet, sink with soap provided. hand sanatiser is provided in room. Room has desk, flat screen TV. Plug sockets near bed. There is free WiFi with fairly good speed. Wood definitely stay again. Amazing hosts, so kind.

Big and nice bathroom Super clean, the lady was cleaning the room every day Traditional italian breakfast with croissant, focaccia, yoghurt, butter, nutella, etc Even if it’s not very close to the city centre (30 min bt foot) the location was very nice and quiet. Exceptionally clean and spacious apartment. Great reception, excellent breakfast, quiet neighbourhood. A few minute walk from bus stop and restaurants. Couldn't ask for anything more!

Everything was perfect! The hosts are so kind and nice people. They helped us with everything we needed ans were answering all of our questions at the whole trip. The room and the bathroom were very spacious and clean (there was daily cleaning) and exactly as they appear in the photos, with TV and guest netflix connection. The breakfast was super!!! It had everything and even more!!! There are two bus stops within 2 min and two supermarkets nearby. The distance from the city center is 15-min walk.

There was a problem with the Wifi and it was unfortunately very uncomfortable since I needed to work in the morning.

The room is comfortable and the bathroom is large, all very clean. The apartment is not in the historic center of the city but in a quiet and well-stocked neighborhood within walking distance from the city center. There is a public bus stop very close to the house. The breakfast is varied and plentiful and Nicola and his wife are very kind and helpful.

The single bed was hard as rock and the room was quite cold during the night. In the last morning we received very dry bread (hard like a toast). We would've liked a bit more help from the host, mostly with restaurant recommendations. Also, it is not written explicitly that this is a room in someone's apartment.
The breakfast was good, a little bit to sweet for our taste. The B&B was very close to the city center - about 10-15 min by foot. There are 2 shops nearby if needed. The room and bathroom were clean.
