Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMy only moan is that due to how the place was operated, the availability of refreshements throughout the day were extremely limited. Lunch and an evening meal were however available to guests, as a set menu.
A truly special place, like nothing you've ever stayed in or will ever stay at. Beautiful, peaceful, tranquil and spiritual. The hosts (owners) made you feel very welcome and often had time for a conversation.

United KingdomAccess to the hotel was not for the faint-hearted as the Italian roads are not well maintained
The abbey was enormous, peaceful and serene. It was set up high with beautiful views over surrounding countryside. We had a guided tour of the buildings which was fascinating. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. The swimming pool was lovely and set in a private grassy area. The food was excellent and served at a long table which was very sociable.

United KingdomThe local roads were dreadful- not the hotel's fault but made it hard to reach from Catania. Not much else to do nearby and certainly not on Sunday. There was a lot of noise in the long corridor which echoed about the hard surfaces - had to earplug one night when children were running about. Don't eat in on Friday if you don't like seafood. But staff lovely and helpful.
A wonderful historical building formerly a monastery. We had a lovely big old room with a huge bathroom. Very comfortable bed - simple furnishings. Breakfast buffet was enjoyable - all sat along a communal long table - bit of a wait at the coffee machine sometimes. One delightful evening meal. Great guided tour of the building

United KingdomThe satnav route to the abbey is on small uneven roads. Avoid the 108 and take the 35.. it goes directly to the Abbey & is a much better road

This place is amazing! It's like living in a piece of history. The hallways are huge, but the rooms are well isolated from any noise. We got a tour of the place upon arrival and it was fascinating to learn about the history of the place. The bed is super comfortable and the room and bathroom was big. The pool is a great modern touch in the summer heat! Breakfast was nice with very fresh and juicy fruit.

United StatesThat we didn't stay longer! Also, google takes you through a farmers home! DON'T GO THAT WAY!! There are signs to the abby kn the road, They were a light green and a bit faded, but once we looked up from google maps, we found it.
Loved that it was in the mountains, away from everything and everyone! Loved the Abbey and the vibe of its age and history! Rooms were comfortable! A little warm, but if you asked for a fan the staff was accommodating!! great pool! Beautiful grounds! Breakfast was so wonderful, Simone (sp) was very patient with us!! Marta gave us a great tour and helped get a last minute wine tasting reservations! The Abbey is perfect for weddings! I honestly cant say enough about it. LOVED EVERYTHING!!! Photos don't do it justice!! If my phone didn't land in the med with me i would have photos to share!!!

United KingdomHighlight of our stay in sicily! As you drive up, you get a real sense of scale of the site and it's really quite something. There aren't many signs to the main hotel (it's shared with the church, but just turn right as you come through the gates and up through a small road) We were warmly greeted by Marta who even gave us a tour of the amazing building (its truly incredible!). She was a really lovely host and informative and helped us feel at home. Our room was large, clean and had a good bathroom, it was well worth the little extra we paid. The breakfast was lovely, but if you can have the dinner do! The chef was excellent. We had a brilliant 2 nights of meals (4 set courses) and they catered to my tomato allergy (and pregnancy!) very well which i was very appreciative of. He took time and effort to explain each dish including the origin, what is in it and it was all really delightful. Left feeling VERY full! It's at extra cost to your room, but we felt it was well worth it. The swimming pool was a real treat and you look back on to the monastery- the time of year we visited there was only a few guests so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. There are opportunities for tours and hikes from the property - so do consider this when booking to make the most of the lovely surroundings. All in all, an incredibly special place to stay.

United KingdomThe abbey is part privately owned and part church owned. There’s a lack of signage so our first twenty minutes were spent wandering round a cloister full of youngsters, nuns and a priest. It was a joyful experience but we were somewhat confused as to where we were supposed to check in. For the price of the stay, facilities to make a hot drink or store a cold drink would be appreciated. Part of the charm of the abbey is that it is faded, gentle and old. In places it seems a little run down, for example the swimming pool is modern and well maintained but the path down to it is rugged. Some may think the garden in need of a bit of tender, loving, care others will love the lack of structure.
Out of this world - literally! I have never had an experience that is comparable to staying in the abbey. It is set deep in rural Sicily. It is a world away from the world. Our room enormous with high vaulted ceilings. The bathroom was similarly enormous. The bed was comfortable. Everything was clean We were given a warm greeting and a tour of the abbey from Roberta Service was friendly Breakfast included locally produced milk and yogurt We ate evening meal at the abbey both nights. Food was homely
