How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The bed was a bit hard and the towels shed blue lint on us after the shower.
The apartment’s location is fabulous, the host was very accommodating, and the bathroom was clean and comfortable.

The price, as the whole 5 terre is over the top for what you really get, specially if you compare it to other parts of Europe.I paid 325 Eur for 2 nights that was one of the cheapest options at the time of booking...
The location was incredible, I am glad I chose Monterosso as a base over the rest of the villages. Cleanliness of the place, spotless every day! Marina was really nice and attentive. Didn't have any issue with any of my requests :)

I did not like sharing a bathroom with other guests (even though the other guests were fine) I did not notice that when I booked and I probably would have looked elsewhere if I did

It was the cheapest in Moneterosso We could find, so We guess its just the lovation that makes it pricy. But at bit pricy.
We liked the lokation. It is very central. Also the manegers were very kind, and came even though we were way too early. We shared the bathroom with a couple others, byt we never meat them, fine place.

No air conditioning or fan was available. This made our stay very uncomfortable. A plug in fan would be ideal
Host was excellent, use of washing machine, kitchen and garden was much appreciated. Super location.

The room didn't have A/C or a fan and it was very, very hot in Monterosso in August. We didn't sleep well because of the heat. Also, no mosquito nets on the windows or mosquito repellent were provided. No laundry detergent was provided.
Irina was a good, helpful host. She provided us with extra consumables when requested and was also super communicative and friendly. Check-in was good. She requested a taxi for us on our way out, which we appreciated. We had a washing machine and kitchen which was good.

The internal door had a glass window - light came into the room when others entered shared common space after we had gone to bed, not really a problem but if other guests are not considerate if might be
There was good communication and we were very quickly met for entry into apartment. The room was comfortable, quiet, clean, and location was very nice

Marina was very nice and helpful, and the flat was clean and comfortable. Not far from the restaurants and the beach.

Beautiful apartment and very clean! The hostess was very prompt in responding and met us when we checked in. She gave us places to go see and eat. Wish we could have stayed longer.

It was very loud in our room (we had the double bed, the room with two singles faced the courtyard and seemed a lot quieter). The double room is right in front of a roadway and there were often cars driving by quickly at night. We could have closed the windows, but then it was too hot.
The location is amazing in terms of closeness to the beach and restaurants. The space was very clean and safe. The host also let us store our bags while we waited for our train which was nice of her!

Very bright in the morning, thin curtains.
Host was exceptional. Garden was beautiful and relaxing. Host allowed us to borrow an inter tube for the ocean!

Property is in great location in old town Monterosso. Mattress was hard and uncomfortable. Room had no power outlets to charge phone or laptop only lamp sockets. Flat is shared with another room so you will share bathroom and kitchen, flat is two bedroom bottom floor. Room was quite noisy as it was located on a busy walk way into the town - be prepared to hear early morning drunks,bin collection and delivery men. Cute kitchen and bathroom,extremely clean and well kept. Some of the light bulbs were missing from room and only one pillow per person, incredibly hard not soft. I was disappointed as it was my annual holiday and room was so expensive for what it was. In my opinion price should be alot cheaper. Host was a little rude and no warm or really inviting.

The bed was extremely uncomfortable and only one pillow each was provided so sleeping was quite difficult. The lights in the room were very bright. A cleaner came during the day which meant making food etc. during these hours was difficult.
Good location away from the crowds but close to everything and fully equipped kitchen with outdoor area , it was nice to meet other people.
