Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesHonestly, really not much I could complain about. Our only dislikes were that we didn't stay long enough (will just need to go back) and we didn't take enough of the home-made olive oil back with us! This didn't bother us because it was part of the charm, but something to be mindful of is that the rooms have an open hearth fireplace in them, so the rooms will have a woodsy scent to them, particularly if you use the fireplace on cold nights.
Cretaiole exceeded our expectations and then some from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. The location is absolutely incredible. The property is situated on a beautiful stretch of land nestled amongst stately olive trees with views over looking the Tuscan countryside. The building itself is equally as charming almost as if taken from a movie about Tuscany. The family is a true highlight as well, Niccolo goes out of his way to ensure that you are well attended to with recommendations on food and activities that were always spot on, and having wine with Luciano after dinner made the trip feel truly special, as you understand how much the family cares about people having a memorable visit. The room was well maintained and incredibly clean with other thoughtful flourishes, such as luxury skin-care products and a book written by the property on what to do in the area. While the hotel does not have food on site, the breakfast they provided for the added fee was such a treat, and more than enough for our stay.

ItalyNothing.
The kitchen in our 3 bedroom apt was lovely and well equipped. The beds were comfortable and the fire was heaven on cold evenings. We were able to do a tour at an archeological site on the host’s farm, which I highly recommend.

United StatesEverything was great, no complaints!
Cretaiole completely exceeded our expectations. We loved it! Our place was wonderfully decorated, we had everything we needed to cook our meals. And the food they gave us was special, as authentic as it gets! We loved the family, Luciano, Carlo, Nicco and Fernanda, we can’t wait to go back! We will miss Cretaiole!

DenmarkKind and welcoming hosts. The property has a stunning view over Val d’Orcia – you can even spot the locations where Gladiator was filmed from the house. The facilities are plentiful with attention to detail – luxurious skin care products, quality amenities in the kitchen – yet still with a countryside vibe.

AustraliaWe loved this property. The views were amazing, we could see the house where the Gladiator was filmed. Peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Just a short drive to Montepulciano. We will definitely return here during the Summer.

United StatesThis feels picky but there were a lot of bugs in the room, we probably removed or killed 20 of them. It didn’t overly bother us because it’s a place in the middle of no where but the leaf bugs were a little unexpected.
Very cute Tuscan house and room. We stayed in the low season so we didn’t get to enjoy the outside as much, but the room was great. Bathroom updated. Nice fireplace inside to use. Loved all the cats around the property.

I had beautiful week at Cretaiole. The villa is in a beautiful location overlooking the valley and Pienza and is just as it is pictured on the website. I stayed in the double room, which was very comfortable and had a beautiful bathroom. I ordered the breakfast basket for the morning after arrival, it was filled with fruits, cereals, milk, bread and sweets, this lasted me the whole week and was definitely worth it. There is a washing machine onsite which guests may use, I had been traveling for three weeks prior to this, so this was a very welcome addition. Check in was seamless and easy, staff were very welcoming and would check in daily to ensure everything was ok and to give any suggestions for places to visit. The nearest town, Pienza, was one of my favourites in Tuscany. So beautiful and charming. I hired a car for the week and would suggest hiring a car as the villa is out of the town and there are so many places to see around the area and much easier by car. I had a wonderful stay and Cretaiole and would definitely stay here again.

United StatesThis place is absolutely charming. Everything in the room was arranged with a great taste and care, I've enjoyed every little detail in decorations of my room, either it was a ribbon with attached little bunch of wheat spikes on my linens, or it was an old wooden dresser with intricate wood carving on it. But the view from the property (it is situated on a hill) is just stunning. Breathtaking. Fernanda, the property manager, was extremely pleasant and helpful, answered all of our questions and gave us super useful tips. I regret that we only spent one night there. Definitely returning.

CanadaGreat location in Val d'Orcia. Minutes from Pienza for food. Breakfast baskets were amazing and fed us for way more than 1 day--recommend. Property is gorgeous, and a great place to relax and unwind. Nicco, Carlo, Fernanda, and all the staff were exceptional. The Bagna Vignoni baths on the Friday night and the running/hiking around the property were wonderful.

United StatesTwo couples travelled together and we picked up their biggest property, which is 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms apartment. The unit itself is well located outside of Pieza, which is a major town for food, sightseeing and shopping. With 5 mins drive to the town but staying in the countryside allowed us to experience such a peaceful experience in Tuscany. The property is a charming 13/14th century old farmhouse, and the host was able to turn it into a very comfortable B&B. Each morning when you wake up, a classical Tuscany scenery is shown on our windows. We travelled in winter season, and did not select their breakfast basket (which is like an American breakfast), but I am sure their spring/summer breakfast would be wonderful experience. They grow their own olives, vegs in the yard. With that saying, the host still provides us some cookies and home made pie as an welcome package, which was such a wonderful thing esp when you arrived in Christmas day while the other shops are closed. On the boxing day, we were trying to find a grocery store. Unfortunately it's all closed. So I just randomly texted the host and ask if he has any idea on which store may be open. And what happened after that made everyone such a touching moment, the host brought his home made sausages, home made wines and olives oli, bread, cheese. And the host is also very knowledgable on local wines and food. He will only suggest something that locals would eat and do. And their handbook is very detailed and well written. I spent one night reading it, which provided me from local farmer market, restaurant selection, activities, history of each little towns in the neighborhood. We stayed in 5 nights total, and everyone felt it's too short as every single day was such a wonderful memory for us. We would definitely return to Tuscany and return to this property again. Adding some pictures taken from the bedroom, and also 5~10 mins drive from the property.
