Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaMost of the staff were gracious and friendly. Some, very few, needed a refresher course in customer relations. A smile and some human engagement doesn’t cost anything.
A quite stylish and comfortable hotel with a very good breakfast.

United StatesBreakfast fell short due to some of the offerings were gone by the time we arrived.
The selection is limited, even for an Italian breakfast, but it is fresh. The dinner was excellent, for a short stay, there is no need to go anywhere else to find a delicious meal.

Room small but so clean quiet and comfortable Breakfast included. More fresh fruit and plant based options would be good in the current environment. Great location Excellent value for money. France- The hotel is kind of modern hotel which I knew but the rooms (most of them because I checked others) have some kind of distinct smell that seems to be from people who smoke by the windows. Smoking is not allowed in the whole hotel but I guess some guests still smoke by the windows and you can still feel this smell is in the room which was annoying. I talked to the reception and they did their best and even gave me something to use in the room to clear the air. I slept opening the window (weather was nice anyways) because I felt the room really needed air all the time. - The SPA is quite small. It was not busy but even if if you are 3 people, you already feel it is quite tight. I think the hotel need to sometimes decide that guests from outside shouldn't be coming in if the hotel has guests. Everything was clean in the SPA though but really needed to fit your own spot to get some relaxation but it is difficult. - I did massage in the hotel which was OK but not super nice. Having said this and knowing that this is a service that might be specific, I felt they shouldn't charge the same amounts for professional massages because it wasn't really.
- Staff are extremely nice and really friendly - Hotel room is quite big in size taking into consideration European standards - Room service was excellent - Beds are comfortable - Hotel provided parking which was really appreciated and it was convenient and quite easy to access.

United StatesStained carpet in room.
Large well-appointed room. Comfy bed. Rain shower and tub. Tasty breakfast with good variety. Small gym with machines. Allowed early check in and kept luggage after check out. Close to centro historico and walkable to train station. Probably the best hotel in town, rather luxurious. Would definitely return.

United KingdomStaff’s behaviour and attitude was borderline unpleasant, to not say rude. I had gifted a 2-days holiday to my little sister hence booking one night at the hotel to celebrate her birthday. In my reservation, I added a note kindly asking to have a room with a decent view. I specified that, hadn’t that been possible, it would have been okay. The hotel responded “we don’t have rooms with scenic views” as if I had asked something else? I replied clarifying my request and thanked them for answering regardless. Throughout our stay, me and my little sister have been looked up and down by all staff - except for one lady whom we met whilst checking out. We surely aren’t rich and like I said, I booked a one night stay at this hotel solely as a gift to my sister. We normally couldn’t afford it. We constantly felt looked at and judged as we were clearly different from the usual hotel guests - i.e., not well-off. At some point, I asked two members of staff where the swimming pool(s) we saw advertised online were and their opening times. They stared at me in a mix of disgust and confusion saying, “what?”. I repeated and elaborated my question. The two receptionists looked at each other with, again, a mix of confusion and disgust until the lady understood and said something along the lines of: “ohhh no, these are part of the spa which is private, only available to some guests”. I apologised for my question - which clearly was…somehow out of line? - and said it was okay. My little sister asked me why the hotel staff kept behaving like that, how was I supposed to explain her..? Shortly before our check out, my little sister took the stairs to the reception while I took the elevator. She normally doesn’t use elevators and they make her anxious. She was carrying a big bag to help, as I was carrying 3 heavy bags myself.
The overall structure was very well made and laid out; similarly, our room was great. It had a spacious bathroom with a superb shower, comfortable beds and overall there was a plenty of space available (I am used to those old, Victorian houses with tiny rooms!)

NorwayMy reservation on Booking.com said the room would have a balcony and a city view, and it had neither. Instead it was enclosed at the bottom of three walls outside the window, which really became a problem when the air-system did not work and I got the feeling of beeing choked in the room. Luckily, the receptionist understood the problem and assigned a new room in the end. So she was helpful. But I would avoid room 107...
The spa-option was quite good. The room I got after being moved was good.

United KingdomI can't fault anything.
I had a comfortable and very relaxing stay. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was high quality. I used the spa twice; the pool was a bit small but it was good to get in there and enjoy the jacuzzi style bubbles. The sauna was good too. Pampering with sparkly wine is available, but that was not for me. The roof terrace was an excellent place to spend a relaxing hour in the sunshine. The hotel is just a short walk away from the historic centre of Grosseto. A wonderful experience!

United StatesThere was nothing to dislike. If I had to pick something to dislike I would say the pillows fall short compared to the overall comfort that the hotel provides. Comfortable pillows are a big deal for me, they can make the difference for a restless traveler.
The staff was as welcoming and helpful as could be found. Give it five stars plus. Appreciated the personal (caring/ unobtrusive) and genuine hospitality that cannot be arranged in large chain hotels. Attractive hotel in the heart of Grosseto. The Airone will be our place to rest up over night when making our annual journey from the US to paint in our little hilltop Tuscan village.
