Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

This is an amazing property, it is an original cave that has been renovated with beautiful tasteful decoration and the owners have gone to the trouble to make sure every aspect of your stay is perfect. Breakfast was really lovely and the room has lots of extras. The shower was great. Its location is so beautiful in the centre of Matera’s UNESCO caves. This is a hidden Gem. The staff were lovely they were helpful and friendly they even went to the trouble of meeting us at the car park to take us to the property.

NetherlandsThere was no Wifi in the room and few electrical sockets. I had some trouble finding the property. I arrived on foot from Via Don Luigi Sturzo. My advice would be to approach from Via delle Beccherie rather than Via D’Addozio. This will result in a short walk part way downhill to the property instead of going all the way down into the centre to then walk back uphill the other side. I was grateful that I stored my main bag back in Bari.
The property is well-located in the historic Sassi. The member of staff who welcomed me was very warm and friendly. I had an early check out and she really tried her best to provide a good breakfast for me. The room was clean, functional and tastefully decorated.

United StatesThe rooms are small, but then they were built centuries ago, so that's what you should expect. Still, a few different adaptations could have provided more room to put one's luggage and toiletries out of the way when not in use. There's quite a hike to get your luggage to and from streetside to this very nice B&B.
The location was very good as far as being able to sightsee throughout the UNESCO and historic area which is unlike anything we'd ever seen before. The staff is very friendly and Claudia is very helpful in guiding one to areas of interest and pointing out even more. The breakfast they serve is very nice. The beds are very comfortable and the entire area is very clean and relaxing.

Excellent location to explore all sides of the city and close to all restuarants and shops. Not to many steps to reach. We used paid parking close by over 3 days and worked well. Staff very friendly and helpfull. Very good communication prior to arrival and arranged walking tour for us. We will definately stay here again if visiting Matera.

SloveniaDidn't like how initially the girl at check-in treated us. It felt like being treated with condescension, and we really do our best at communication before check-in. She looked stressed and in a hurry, allthought we were clear and precise as possible about our arrival time. We didn't get precise indication on how to get there on foot so we got a bit lost. Also at arrival she claimed that i didn't book for all of us, which is not true. It was clear even from the confirmation booking. She complained that she had to prepare the sofa bed just at the end because i didn't book the third person and gave us a "lesson" about it. We travel with 2 kids . I booked for 3 because the listing says - kids stay for free . And the little one sleeps in the middle of the bed. I precised that via msg after booking and asked only for a big couple bed and a single bed for the bigger kid. So i guess she didn't read well our booking and details about guest.
Perfect location, but don't follow google maps, ask for indications because it's easy to miss it. Very spacious space, appreciated the comfortable beds and mosquito nets on all windows and balcony. Breakfast was fresh and good, could choose among many different things.

RomaniaIf you are looking for a magical accomodation that suits the magical Matera, this is the place to be. This location exceeded my expectations on every level - everything was just perfect. The rooms were clean and very beautiful. The attention to the details really gives a heart to this place. I loved how everything really feels like out of a really old fairy tale, but with all the benefits of the modern world well integrated. The staff was very, very friendly, always happy to help in person or on the phone/WhatsApp. They responded within minutes and did their best to accomodate our every need. We also received a map and many tips in order to find the best spots of Matera and it came in handy. We were always greeted with a smile and a joke and made feel welcomed. The breakfast was delicious (oh, how i loved the fresh foccacia!) and I can go on with describing the litte terrace, the view, the rounded ceilings, the fresh smelling and lovely magnolia bedsheets - but this would be a long essay after I'd be done. You can see that the people who manage this place and the staff and everyone involved treat it not just like a business, you can sense the affection they put into it - it has charm and personality. I wholeheartedly recommend it, the only regret I have is that i didn't spend more time there. If you want to travel and discover a little gem hidden in Matera, THIS is it.

so beautifully decorated and so central. it was an amazing room ok a converted Sassi. We were helped principally by Claudia who could not have been friendlier or more helpful. She soeknexcellent English and organised a tour of the Sassi for us in advance. The ladies who helped organise breakfast and clean our room every day were just lovely and welcoming. breakfast was plentiful and the rooms were exceptionally clean and well equipped.
