Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaBeware there are steep stairs, but we are both 72 and managed them. Most of the 600-year character homes are the same. Believe me, it's worth it

AustraliaOnly one negative was the bedroom curtain. Didn't close so had to try our best to keep the morning sun out.
Old style accomdation that added to the property. Breakfast was really good, plenty to fill you up for a day's adventure. Host and staff were fantastic.

NetherlandsThe bed was a bit hard to my liking, the bathroom is tiny and when you shower everything gets wet. The doors to the balcony did not close properly.
Perfect location in quiet neighborhood, only 8 minutes from the train station. The pizza in the pizzeria downstairs was good. Nicely decorated cute little room with small terrace.

United KingdomThere is a (delicious) pizzeria downstairs which was a little noisy a a few evenings, but mainly clanking of plates etc, not people being loud. Also the room next door is adjoining, whilst there is no access between the two, you can hear a lot from the next room.
The room was really pretty, and the bed was a very generous single. The terrace was really peaceful and sweet. Close to the centre, lovely cafes and restaurants very close.

GreeceA few things were missing from the room: a small trash bin would be useful, and also some hangers or a drawer for our things. It's not a big deal, and we could have asked, though... The room was a bit small, after all. Lastly, the bathroom was external ( we knew about it,and it was very clear in the description), but the lock on the bathroom door wasn't functioning very well, even if you locked someone could still open it. Nobody tried to open it, of course, but given the fact the bathroom was located in the corridor with the other rooms, it was a bit stressful.
The rooms are beautifully decorated with what it seemed to us, like Italian style. It is located near the center and you are basically 15-20 min. away (on foot) from all the points of interest. it is not a lot, you are going to walk anyway. The staff is very nice and helpful. Breakfast was also nice with delivery on your door.

South AfricaIt would have been nice to have had a mirror in the bedroom, but this is a minor complaint.
We loved the central location, the atmosphere, and the cleanliness of the b&b, but most of all, we loved the breakfast which was unbeatable- homemade torte, eggs to order, pastries, fruit - all pepared by the owner and her daugter with care and generosity.

United StatesThe building is very old, so there is no elevator: be prepared to climb to steep sets of stairs. And don't bring large suitcase.
The location is great: around the corner from the central train station. The hostess is very sweet and prepares excellent fresh breakfast. Fresh flowers adding prefect touch to feel like you are in exquisite home of your grandma. The shatters on the windows provide privacy and block you from street noises. Everything done with love and taste.

United KingdomOur room was not in the main building of the b+b instead was a few doors away which was unexpected. It would have been fine but we were on street level & very close to a pub that didn't close til 2am with lots of noise as people left, streetcleaner vehicle going round and lots of banged doors. this was only on sat night tho (we stayed sat to tues) In the main building of b+b rooms were on 2nd floor & away from street.
Well appointed large room with mini kitchen facilities. Very friendly staff who made lovely fresh breakfast and when we were going on a day trip & would miss breakfast left a basket of items in our room night before. Good restaurants nearby. about 20mins walk from centre of Florence & only about 7mins from main train station

FinlandIt was not known before, that the rooms are really close to each other and you could hear basically everything from the next door - like you were on the same room with the neighbour. If your neighbour deciced to put an alarm clock at 6am, you will wake up to it - so bring earplugs etc. With you. Also the room was small and there was really not too much space, but on the otherhand the exclusive bathroom make up for it quite nicely.
Location was really good at the Santa Maria Novella area, about 10min walk from the city centre and 10min for the train station. Really good Italian pizzeria right next door. Direction to get to the hotel were clear. Breakfast was served unique way, it came right to the room.
