Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandThe suite was not as big as I had hoped. Pool is only free of charge if you are in a suite, otherwise you need to pay an extra 15 Euros per day per person to use the pool.
Quiet location, great pool and one of the receptionist was exceptionally nice and helpful. The shower was amazing.

Australia- The air conditioner in the room couldn't be changed. We slept so badly because it would come on and off all night but it wouldn't come on until you were so hot you were sweating. - There was only one bag of decaf tea provided, no other tea or coffee facilities - Even though you can literally see the pool from the room you can not use it unless you pay 15 euro a day each. You would certainly think a 4 star hotel would include the use of the pool. We literally saw no-one in the pool the entire time, likely because of this unusual charge.
- Comfortable bed - Nice room - Big shower - the fantastic gym - the local town was beautiful and the restaurants were nice

GermanyGenerally completely understaffed. Were there with a bigger group, and they had trouble to accommodate us at the hotel restaurant, even though they had almost no business that day and had enough tables set up. Not enough key cards for all rooms, so only one per room. You have to pay for the open pool outside. Bathrooms are clean, but shower appliances are older and should be replaced.
The pool was nice. Dish sizes at the restaurant small but delicious.

NetherlandsAlthough the hotel was nice enough, it was the little details that let it down. Staff were friendly, but hospitality sometimes felt a little lacking. As an example we arrived early, and were immediately told there were no rooms ready before even asking our names and checking the reservation for our room type. It is worth noting that we were still able to get our room a little earlier than stated checkin. The staff also temporarily held on to our passports for checkin, rather than taking a photocopy or similar ( even if the copy is then later destroyed ), which felt a little awkward. Staff at the bar were often absent and had to be found in order to get drinks/snacks during the day. There are also no real food options during the day, aside from a small "pool menu", with breakfast times being very constrained ( standard is 7am - 9am, with 7am - 9:30am at weekends if I remember correctly ). The village is 20 min walk away however, and does have options. The restaurant on site offered good food in the evening, but the service was a little chaotic. In the rooms the water pressure was very low in the shower, and the air conditioning seemed to not go lower than 23 degrees. Leaving the room to be quite warm during the night. It's also worth noting that there is a €20 a day, per person, charge for using the pool and garden area. Although we didn't make use of this. Overall it wasn't a bad experience, however the little details just made the stay feel a little awkward. Not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel.
The hotel served it's purpose. The room we stayed in was a nice size, and the beds were comfortable enough. The garden and pool area looked very nice. It was relatively quiet however, and there were plenty of loungers etc available. The village of Castel San Pietro Terme is only a 20minute walk away, which offers a handful of nice cafes and restaurants.

SwedenReception falls far below the mark. Took 8 min before anyone showed up at check-in. Another 7 min wait to ask for a 2nd set of towels (only 1 set provided for our double room). ”If I don’t show up right away you should understand I have more important things to tend to” says the receptionist. Showing up for breakfast at 7:15 (said to be served 7:00-9:30), we are informed it opens at 8.
