How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Everything was just great at the apartment! A bottle of wine, all the facillities needed inside the apartment. Very, very clean and nice arranged, it felt just as being at home, but in Rome! Marino, the owner, welcomed us and he was really warm and helpful!

Great location, quiet part of town, apartment was super clean, comfy and very equipped. Really nice place to stay. Marino(host) was friendly from the moment we arrived until the last day. I recommend this place!

Everything was perfect.
The apartment is easy to access by public transport. There are cafés and supermarkets nearby. Marino, the host was extremely helpful and kind. His hospitality was beyond one can expect. The apartment is amazing, cosy and has everything one can need - it feels like home or even better. Marino and his beautiful apartment made our stay in Rome perfect. Thank you for the experience. All accommodations should be like Marino's apartment, this level of hospitality should be normalized.

No complaints whatsoever. Best accommodation ever.
Clean, functional, modern apartment on a quiet street. Kitchen has everything you need for a short or long stay. Excellently located just a few minutes from tram/bus 8 which runs to Trastevere and then to the Piazza Venetia and the historical/antiquity's district. Nice to leave the crowds after a day of exploring and return to a local landscape. Very gracious host.

Marino was a fantastic host. The apartment was spacious and immaculately clean. Many extras were included such as breakfast supplies, snacks and wine. Highly recommended.

The place was fantastic,spotless and hospitality was the best . From the moment we stepped in we felt that we were at home. You would not find a better place than this! Mr Marino was so kind and when ever we needed anything he was there for us. He made our trip feel special and I Thank him very much and hope we shall see this lovely place again in the future.

I could not find any fault with the apartment.
We were met at the property by the host's wife. She was incredibly friendly and showed us all of the facilities included with the apartment. The apartment was in excellent condition. The rooms were all of an excellent size. The champagne on arrival was a nice touch. Marino the host was very approachable both before and during the stay. No question was too much trouble for him to answer. We loved the location and found it easy to travel around Rome.

Marino, the host, is just a star! Taxi driver dropped us to the wrong address, Marino was so helpful to guide us to the right place, show the apartment and shared the advises how to get to the centre, whats worth to see and where to eat. Similar information are laminated in the apartment just in case if you forgot some details ;-) We have had wonderful time in Rome. Apartment is very comfortable, just like at home. Everything was perfect. Thank you very much for making us so welcome !

We spent wonderful time in beutifull, comfortable apartament. We truly felt like if we were in our own home. There is also very good contact with the owner who is very helpfull and commited. Thank you Marino!

Our only complaint was the pillows, they were firm. We would recommend having 4 down pillows, giving guest an option!
We love the apartment! Plenty of room for the 4 of us(all adults). Two good sized bedrooms, two bathrooms, AC, W&D, every thing seemed brand new, so many personal touches that we felt at home, +++ a nice bottle of red wine, a big bottle of sparkling water, honey, jam, butter pads in the refrig, a bowl of fresh fruits, even olive oil & balsamic packets, and individual snacks! Our host was so sweet, met us at the apartment to welcome us, showed us how everything worked, and gave us the keys. AAA+++ Thank you for a lovely time & the restaurant was wonderful … we went twice! The apartment has a washer and dryer. It is safe and very clean and beautiful inside.

Nothing much.
When we met the owner of the property to collect the keys, he explained patiently about all the facilities in the accommodation. He did even buy us bread and milk for the next day morning Breakfast, as we were reaching quite late in the night. He also guided us on the do's and dont's, gave us a few guidance on local transport, shops, etc. He was very courteous and very thoughtful in terms of what he had provided in the accommodation.
