How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Bedsheets looked kind of old but clean. Toilet on the hallway squeaky floor You can't pay with debit/credit card for city tax and keys deposit
Area Room was big with a big comfortable bed washing basin inside the room with hairdryer plenty of sockets easy to reach light switches good and clean utilities

some of the dishes are not very clean but that’s up to the guests to do so not the hostel’s fault
very nice staff, comfortable rooms and well equipped, shared bathrooms were not a problem at all

It takes time for hot water to come out of tap. However from shower it is easy to get hot water.
Room location, availability of person at the reception who could answer all questions a tourist can ask.

It is above a bar and can be noisy if you want to sleep before midnight.
It’s a great overall location (although above a bar), good value, great host who was very accommodating, also good friendly atmosphere. For me and my two daughters the room with ensuite bathroom was good,

Nothing to dislike.
The attitude and friendly helpfulness of the two people running it, nephew and aunty, who couldn't have been nicer. What a difference this made. The kitchen was a really useful area for eating meals or snacks from the very nearby supermarket. No a/c but two fans were ideal (we stayed early October) Can very happily recommend and would return if visiting Venice again.

Perhaps the cleanliness could have been improved, but like all of Venice hard to avoid the rot & mold that has set in
Expectations of the facility were not too high as the cost of staying at Archies was so competitive with alternate accommodation in Venice. The host & his mother was so incredibly helpful & friendly. Great location as not too far to walk with luggage from train or bus station. Shared bathroom didn't prove an issue and there were good kitchen facilities for self catering. A nice added touch was complimentary boiled water and cookies. Would definitely recommend if you are not looking for high end, luxurious accommodation but more budget & value for money

A few more toilets would be great as people using showers meant no toilet being available for long periods of time. Of course it it so reasonably priced for Venice and near all the shops etc makes it a fab place to spend a few days.
The location is perfect ,within walking distance of all the major sights .The vaporetta stop is 2 min walk from the accommodation. The Irish pub is a 5 min walk away. The staff were so nice and you can book in really early ,good shared kitchen for cooking if needed.

All good in general.
Staff are friendly and helpful! Close to train station too and easy to go to airport with the ferry. The friendliness of the host/ staff made our stay happy and comfortable. Lucky to have the whole room even we booked the shared room.

To be honest when we arrived and saw the main door we thought it was not there, because the appearance is not great but then you realize that half of buildings in Venice are similar. When we entered we started to see that is good, pictures were better and bathroom, even though is was always clean, it looked kind of dirty because it has some old stuff, but as I said, they are always cleaning and is perfectly clean. It is just appearance.
The location is very good, close to almost everything but at the same time not in super crowded area so it is perfect. Also the guy who attended us was very nice, talkative and willing to help you with everything. You can have food at a small kitchen and they have some cookies for breakfast if you like. To summarize, I would come back!

The room was facing the sun during the day so at night was hot as hell, so keep that in mind if you travel in summer
The room was large and clean. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. It was a good location near to the Bus and Train stations. A traghetto and bus-boat stops near by too.

It has no AC and it was really hot, it has no lift (we traveled with a wheelchair)
The staff is accommodating and helpful to our queries. The location is also great.

The room is okay, has some broken details but its fine to me. Quite noisy at night cause some restaurant open late
The location is perrrrrrrfect, just 3 minutes to the water bus station (the line is also goes through lot of attractions), 8min to the Santa lucia train station The room has 2 fans which is perfect for summer. Stay in the middle of good price restaurants, gelato shops, supermarket, souvernir shops Archie is friendly and he takes care well
