How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The room was quite hot, the covers in the bed were too warm too. It was not possible to turn air condition on. There were a few ants in the bathroom and room, they tried to eat my chocolate etc.
Breakfast was quite good. Location of the hotel was perfect, really nice front yard garden with many flowers. There was a nice pool outside in the back yard but it was not heated. The personnel were nice and helpful.

Young girl working at the hotel reception could check her attitude when working with hotel customers, however unstylish etc. they may appear to her 😉.
Great breakfast, quiet room and excellent hotel location.

Great location overlooking the lake and close walking distance to the boat terminal and shops and restaurants. Wide choice at breakfast. Parking.

Very worn out hotel that could use a renovation. All functional in the room but it takes you back in time to the glory years of the hotel (50s to 70s I assume)

Old school amenities and decor Hard bed and pillows They make a copy of credit card when we arrive although they already have the booking.com confirmation and card details - i did not feel safe. In any case I gave another card that i don't use, so any irregular transactions linked to this card will be easilly traced down to this reservation and will obviously be reported.

Very nice and clean hotel, we came late for the breakfast but we still got served. Also the receptionist at the night was very kind and helped us with everything. No extra charge for my dogs and for the parking of our 2 cars. Lovely hotel and staff, will return for sure. 🙂

The rooms are very small and cramped. The place urgently needs to be updated as it feels dated
Nice pool. Breakfast was good quality and tasty. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is also very convenient, close to the train station and a short walk from down town.

We are independent travellers, unfortunately priority is giving to the coach tour visitors in Astoria. As a result, we only booked B & B. The evening meal menu was geared to the package booking. We preferred to visit the restaurants in town in the evening - only a short stroll along the lake side.
As returning customers,we knew what to expect with regards to location, standard of room and cleanliness. All excellent.Breakfast was more than adequate. Lounge facilities very comfortable and genial bar staff.

The location was perfect. The staff was so helpful. Example: had a staff member take us to the train station because taxis were tied up in a different town. Breakfast was in a large room with a gorgeous view and the food was fine and plentiful.

Dinner was very disappointing, and waiting staff a bit offhand as if you were interrupting their day. Luckily there is a great choice of excellent restaurants a short walk away in Stresa, although good idea to reserve tables as it gets busy.
Brilliant location, lake view rooms well worth the extra cost. Nice, sunny pool, a bit chilly despite claims it was heated. Good amount of parking. Great choice at breakfast.

Wasps in the bathroom. Though the non-stinging kind, it was obviously annoying to find 2-5 wasps in the bathroom every afternoon. Must have been a problem in this room only. Two other rooms in our travel group were just fine (no sign of wasps)
Great location. Scenic view onto the lake and the borromean islands. 5 minutes walk to the city center or the pier. Public boat line (15 minutes) to the Santa Caterina del Sasso monastery.

The bed was uncomfortable The breakfast choice Myself and my Husband have stayed in four star hotels in many different countries over the years. I have to be honest the dining room would look much better with some new pure white table cloths and a fresh new modern decoration. More options of fresh fruit and healthy nut choices and individual yogurts and choice of cooked egg options. In the bedroom the bed was uncomfortable and there should be tea,coffee and free bottled water each day which should be standard with a Four star rated hotel.

Pillows were very small and uncomfortable.
Hotel is very cosy and clean. Brekfast was very delicious with beatifull lake view from the restorane. Pool with jakuzzi was nice and clean.
