Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomGreat location: Metro and bus Stops are right outside the building, trevi fountain/spanish steps etc are 5-7 min walk. Lots of cafes, bars, bistro to eat at. Rooms are small and on the third floor with no lift, it wasn’t an issue for us but it might be for some people. Everything was clean, rooms were serviced every day and fresh towels were provided. The reception team do everything via WhatsApp as there was no to speak with in person, but they are responsive and helpful on WhatsApp. All in all it was a great location, value for money, clean and tidy room.

United KingdomIn terms of the accommodation, we were in one of the suites right at the top (16A) and its stretching it to say we didn't like the following but........ The shower head wall attachments have a mind of their own so a little attention to these would be a quick job. The downstairs toilet / shower is outside the main front door which is a little odd. Think this is because the original front door is broken though. The lounge area is a bit sparce and could do with another couple more chairs and not sure why the tv is in the upstairs bedroom. We only switched it on for 5mins though so hardly an issue. There isn't a view from the windows but you can sort of see the square a little bit - again didn't bother us. As for Rome itself, generally we felt everyone was out to overcharge at every opportunity which left a bit of a sour taste. Guess that's to be expected in tourist hot spots but can't see I've come across it in other cities so much as here. The restaurant around the corner , Restaurante Romano, is basically out to scam tourists and we fell for it. An old guy sitting outside on a stool claims to be the owner and that all the food is authentic, made by his wife. The food is pretty poor. The scam though is that after you've ordered he asks if you'd like some bruschetta. Typically this is no more than 5Euros everywhere else but they inflate this to 18Euros and you find this out when you get the bill. Yes, we should have been more careful and checked the price but be warned. 18x4 is not a nice surprise! Along the main road, breakfast at the Cafe Accademia was 62Euros for a few coffees and some pastries and at Cafe News, 4 paninis and drinks was 54Euros. So in my opinion, compared to other European cities, Rome was great for wandering around and taking in the history but fell way short on value for money.
The accommodation is in a good location, close to the metro station, should you need it and there are a couple of bars right outside the front door. There were 4 of us and the adults had the upstairs room and the teenagers had a sofabed each downstairs. This is better than we normally get because the single sofabeds were seperate to the 'lounge' area. The apartment was clean and for the amount of time we spent it was perfectly fine. Towels were changed and beds made daily. We liked the stairs and the challenge of taking them on after walking all day. Simple enough to get the train from the airport and then about 25min walk to the apartment. We only had hand luggage though so maybe a bit trickier with bigger luggage.

United KingdomBathroom needs renovating. It was clean but basin was cracked and shower door fell off the runner if closed fully. The stairs were hard work after a long days sightseeing but not a problem. We knew about them before we booked
Hotel was in a perfect location, minutes away from Trevi fountain and Spanish steps. Very close to both metro and bus stops. There was a good choice of bars and restaurants around the piazza. We can recommend La Botte Antica, for an authentic Italian experience - turn right out of the hotel. Key pad entrance was very convenient and intructions/ communication to gain entrance was very good. We arrived early and were able to leave our luggage . Room was very clean and cleaned daily. Snacks and toiletries were appreciated. As was the safe and small fridge.

United KingdomThere was 110 steps up to it. This wasn’t a major problem for myself and my family, but If you struggle with mobility this would be difficult. It got a lot easier by the end to do!
The property is in a fantastic location. Everything is walkable although we did get a taxi to the Vatican. The square it is in is vibrant and it’s just down the road from lots of shops. It’s about 4 mins walk from the Trevi Fountain. Inside the property was lovely and things like tea and biscuits were replenished every day. Bathrooms were spotless and very large. We had an upstairs bedroom section which was lovely
