Sleeping in a cave was really fun. The renovation was well done with nice fixtures yet it kept the feeling of a cave which I wanted. Breakfast was overflowing and delicious! The owners are gracious and interesting. Mima met us at the taxi and helped carry our bags up the steps to the apartment. All Matera is steps! Property gets 5 + stars from us.

Everything about B&B Al Covento was amazing. Enzo and Mima are the best hosts ever. The location is ideal. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The bed was super comfortable. The shower is great. The breakfasts were delicious. We had to leave early our last morning and Enzo and Mima insisted on making us breakfast. I can’t say enough good things.

The property was central in the Sassi and exploring everything was walkable. The breakfast room is lovely. Our room was great! Comfortable and modern in an ancient setting. The cistern was below our room- you could look inside!

The best breakfast, amazing cave room, amazing host and hostess. Their breakfast ensemble was better than any of the 5 star restaurants we have been to. The owner and his wife go above and beyond to make sure that everything is cared for. The lady bakes her own pastries and stuff for the breakfast.

The room was big enough for our family of four, but had no privacy for the shower or toilet which was a little tough for our teenagers! It was also quite a walk from our car, but the location was great.

The location in the Sassi was amazing! Breakfast was quite the spread - more than we could eat. And Enzo and Maria were great hosts. Enzo helped us arrange a walking tour of the city which was great!

That we had to leave haha - there is nothing that we did not like. Our stay was wonderful.

I had asked for a gluten-free breakfast and our host provided a homemade gluten-free breakfast made with more love than I had experienced in my own country. The room is beautiful and cozy. Our research let us know that there is a humid smell across these types of cave rooms but the damp smell is not unpleasant at all! It's quite comforting actually. Everything was absolutely perfect.

Amazing stay! Can't say enough good things about this B&B. The room is incredible and has everything you could need, coffee, tea, fridge, free prosecco (!), and the huge bath/shower cave at the end of the room was amazing. Pictures don't do it justice! The breakfast was also the best we've had from a B&B (we didn't need lunch at all), and the hosts were great with advising what we should see during our stay.

Was confused about the parking- so better instructions on how to get the bus from the parking and how to get from the bus to the air b n b would have been helpful.

Our buses to and from Matera never showed causing us to Taxi in and out at heavy prices. Difficult to communicate since we speak no Italian and they don’t try to understand English. navigating steep steps and streets is difficult as I have mobility issues

Exceptional accommodation host was super room was a cave with modern facilities. breakfast was several servings and more than we could eat. The city was awesome although transportation was difficult. The host did try to assist.

Parking was remote, but this is true for all the good locations within the Sassi.

The property was amazing. Everything was thought of and the cave atmosphere was wonderful. Mimma & Enzo were so kind to organise a tour and breakfast to take For our early departure. Highly recommended - staying at Al Convento is a must!
