How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Excellent location. Room very new and very clean. On top of that the hosts were very very friendly and accomodating. Thanks Irene and Salvatore. We recommend this place for its genuine hospitality.

Stay in B&B Bouganville was perfect. The Owners are extremaly kind and helpful. Check-In process was very nice and easy. We felt like home. There is closed private parking in the property. The room was specious and very clean with beautiful new bathroom. It was more than we needed for one night. Breakfast was very delicious and prepared with highest kindness. In addition we had opportunity to try Sicilian beverage with the Owners in the evening. In the morning we received additional Espresso for free. We felt very welcomed. Thank you! :)

Thanks to the owners for the nice welcome! Everything was excellent! The room is big, clean and cozy. But the biggest bonus is the owners themselves! They make you feel like at home! We have to give a special thanks for the great breakfast so early in the morning ( at 6.am)

Everything was great, the host helped us with the early check-in we requested and also explained everything with google translate. There are many private parking spaces there and even a mosquito repellent in the room

I loved everything, when we return to Sicily, we will choose them again, for sure.
The hosts were amazing, it is the first time I really enjoyed the stay and felt like home, better than in a hotel! The room was sparkling clean, the beds, the bathroom, the sheets, everything was proper and VERY clean. Unlike the 4 stars hotels where the bathroom furniture is often outdated, here everything is working, new and proper! Will miss you, guys🤗

I had the pleasure of staying at this truly exceptional accommodation recently, and I can safely say that it was one of the best stays I have had in Sicily. Not only was this accommodation comfortable and well appointed, but the hospitality I experienced there made my stay truly special. From the moment I arrived, I felt like a welcome guest. The hosts greeted me with a warm smile and were extremely helpful in meeting my needs throughout my stay. The hosts were always available to answer questions and address concerns, and were always eager to make my stay as pleasant as possible. They provided valuable recommendations for local attractions, restaurants and activities that really enhanced my stay. The cleanliness and comfort of the accommodations were also top notch. My room was spacious, tastefully decorated and equipped with everything I needed for a pleasant stay. The beds were comfortable and the overall decor exuded a welcoming atmosphere. All in all, I cannot praise this accommodation enough. The hospitality I experienced here far, especially the amazing breakfast exceeded my expectations. If you are looking for a place where you want to feel like a valued guest, this is definitely the place to go. I will definitely be back and can't wait to be spoiled again by the warm hospitality at this accommodation.

The owners of this B&B go above and beyond everything you could expect from a B&B. Upon arrival you are greeted with a warm Italian welcome and exceptional attention for all of our needs. The owners not only helped us with the information regarding our travel (additional tips for visiting locations and restaurant nearby) and gave us the utmost attention, but even made us a personal breakfast at 6:30 in the morning. Amazing. On the more practical note - WiFi quality was also excellent, which is a rare sight in an Italian hotel, in my personal experience.

We had an early flight from Trapani Airport, so we chose to stay at B&B Bougainville and it was best decision. The room was clean and neat, very spacious and equipped with everything needed, located 10 minutes drive from the airport. very much recommend. The owners are very sweet and supportive - recommended and booked a table for us in a nearby restaurant (food was so delicious), put a few bottles of water for us in the fridge, as we had an early flight, they woke up at 6 am, so we could have breakfast before leaving. Breakfast was amazing and they made a personalised cup of warm milk for our daughter.

What a fantastic place! After a 5 hour delay, Salvatore insisted on collecting us from the airport in the middle of the night and welcomed us at the B&B with pizza and a cold beer. Beautiful rooms and the most amazing breakfast, prepared by Irene. Salvatore and Irene are such kind hosts, they have a beautiful home and a very cute dog Diana and cat Marina. Dream B&B, not to be missed!

Salvatore and his wife could not have made us more welcome. The hospitality we received was second to none. They couldn't have done any more to make this a perfect start to our trip. The accommodation and breakfast were excellent but it was the warmth of the welcome that made this an outstanding place to stay.
