We were very warmly welcomed by Giancarlo! He gave us excellent advice on itineraries in the local area, which we followed and were so glad we did. Breakfast was plentiful … full fresh, local produce. A great base for 3 days!!

We arrived too late in the season to appreciate the lovely swimming pool

Giancarlo is a wonderful host and takes great care over ensuring that guests have an enjoyable stay. This was the most genuine of the agrotourisimos that we stayed at - even to trying some of the carob pods he had been colleting from one of his orchards. The attention to detail in the breakfasts was delightful and although relatively simple we enjoyed them emesely for taste and flavour. The house has histiry, is a delightdful spot to take it easy for a few days or to travel out from to visit the Varoque towns in the area. Highly recommended, and despite some accessibility issues (i am blind) I would happily return for a second visit

The owner Giancarlo is very kind and welcoming, so is his daughter. He was extremely nice and helpful, I couldn't believe it. The breakfast included in the price was phenomenal, unbelievably good. It has truly been an experience of a lifetime. I cherish the memories and I am positive we'll come back next time. This agriturismo is the number one experience in the Modica.

This is a slice of heaven. Honestly, it's another world of peace, beautiful skies, stunning furnishings and gentility. Giancarlo epitomizes Italian warmth and class and is rightly proud of his gorgeous home. We couldn't finish our breakfast... a feast of local breads, ricotta, fruits, and even peppery Modica chocolate!! Giancarlo has only 2 guest rooms so our family had the place to ourselves which felt v special. The pool is huge (there's shade around it) and a late evening dip below the night sky was magical.

Niente- rien- nada - nothing!! It was perfect!

This was an enchanting place: full of history, character and rural charm. The room was very comfortable and atmospheric and the bathroom facilities clean and well equipped. The pool and gardens were stunning. The highlight of the stay was the host: he was attentive , informative and charming. Everything was served up with Italian finesse and charm. The breakfasts were delightful : full of local specialities and flavour. We were treated to vegetables, wild herbs and fruit from the garden and delicious local cheeses and pastries. We were advised on the best beaches, restaurants, itineraries and local traditions and fayre, and we left with heavy hearts wishing we could spend more time there. This is a gem of place - not to be missed! Grazie mile!

The accommodation is very special, authentic, in a wonderful environment, with a huge pool. The owner is kind and helpful. The breakfast is plentiful, you can choose between sweet and salty. Highly recommended place!

We stayed at Baglio Calanchi for 6 nights. We truly felt at home due to Giancarlo’s hospitality. Giancarlo gave us lots of recommendations for activities. From Baglio Calanchi, you can (by car) easily discover the provinces Ragusa and Syracuse. We especially liked hiking Cavagrande and hiking Riservata Vindicari. A longer stay like we did (4+ nights) is perfect to explore more than just the typical sights such as Noto and Syracuse. We enjoyed the elaborate breakfasts Giancarlo prepared every morning and a few very romantic dinners he organised for us. A very special experience you’ll probably find nowhere else. Furthermore, the pool area is perfect after a day of visiting towns and hiking. It’s a large pool and it’s relaxed since Baglio Calanchi offers just two guest rooms. All in all, highly recommended! We will definitely come back here if we come back to Sicily someday.

Dear Jean Carlo, Thank you so much for the warm welcome and your patience with our appalling Italian but we did managed some great and very interesting discussions, with the help of google translate. Hope your tractor has been mended for not so many euros as you feared. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast delicious, thank you for sharing some of your produce with us. A great location from which to go and explore Ragusa and Modica (esecially the chocolate from Antica Dolceria Bonajuto set back from the road Corso Umberto I opposite the Duomo di San Pietro Apostolo). Would recommend an excursion to Castello di Donnafugata (45mins). Great

Google maps took us to the wrong place so our kind host came to find us, and we would have enjoyed our stay even more if we had been able to speak Italian.

Beautiful rural location with wild flowers and ancient olive trees. Goldfinches and swallows were nesting and swifts screamed overhead. lovely warm welcome from host and very attractive historic house. Superb dinner, all created from fresh ingredients by our host.

Giancarlo was very friendly and helpful. Having been brought up in the area he knows it very well and was able to give very good recommendations of places to visit, and to eat, that weren't necessarily in the guide book. Breakfast was good and the location convenient.

beautiful manor home that is a change of pace from traditional BnBs. GORGEOUS home and grounds. host Giancarlo is so accommodating. stay here as a base and go to Modica and Ragusa. in season, a pool is available.
