Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe only thing we didn't like was that the room was a little too small.
Location is really good. Room is nice and has everything you might need in it. Breakfast is in the cafe downstairs-small but nice- same as in the most italian cafes. Our room had a little balcony.

Taiwan1) Wifi: average level, if you need remote connection for work, sometimes it becomes slow, but most of time it’s enough. 2) No teeth brush; a little inconvenient. 3) Self-checkin instruction, if possible, can be clearer. Actually, I spent a little time to find the pad to enter password.
Conclusion first: room is very clean, breakfast is coffee/bread, but “extremely tasty” (should be the best cappuccino I ever had in EU, for an Asian like me). It’s behind Benso’s bar, basically in a convenient area. A lot of restaurants nearby. No parking lot, but you can find one with €1.6/hr level, walking 10 min. No any counter, but self-checking password will be delivered via booking.com messages. Breakfast is in the bar at 1F; staff are very friendly, especially the young waiter. I’m glad I found and stayed here in the last minute. Absolutely recommend this B&B to everyone.

FranceThe breakfast options could have been better.
Loved the electronic security locks with codes. The accommodation had good amenities for a stay and the room was very clean and well maintained. It just takes 15 mins by walk to reach the La Spezia central train station which makes your life easy to commute between cinque terre villages.

United StatesBeing senior citizens, it was difficult to negotiate the stairs with our luggages.
Breakfast was included and it was provided at Benso 1810 (cafe) which was just around the corner. I had a couple of requests and Giacomo (host) attended to them expeditiously.

United StatesI wish the address of the rooms was in the reservation. We lost internet on our trip and had to ask around in how to get there. The areas for some reason complicated my data on my phone.
I loved the safety and cleanliness/comfort of the room.

United KingdomOverall I was very satisfied with my stay. If I had to suggest something to improve on- it would have been good to have hair conditioner, and the mattress/pillow weren’t there most comfortable. But it didn’t stop me sleeping! But don’t let the above put you off - I Definitely recommend this place.
Benso rooms was the perfect stay to explore Cinque Terre. Great location - between 10/15 min walk from La Spezia station which is easily connected to all the main villages in Cinque Terre and other main stations. Apartment is just off a main square. Self Check in system was very easy, with very clear instructions. The host was great at communicating and even had some great recommendations of things to do In the area. Breakfast was served at a cafe behind the apartments and it was very tasty, and the staff very friendly. They even let me store my luggage there whilst I explored the city.

United Kingdombreakfast isn't really breakfast, its coffee and croissant, but for Italians this is probably sufficient. However, supermarkets are near so you can buy fruit, yogurt etc. Very noisy in the street at night in and around the cafe below but once the cafe closed around 9.30 it was very quiet so would only be a problem for anyone going to bed early.
The location is very good walking distance to the harbour and also the train station. Lots of cafes, restaurants and shops in the area so good for eating out. The contact with the host was very easy and always prompt. We had an issue with the toilet on the first day and it was attended to the next morning. Access was easy via keypad and the cafe below where you get your daily coffee and croissant was very lively and the staff very friendly. Great to have coffee and tea making facilities in the room.
