How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The place was nice, but the property was other than we expected. Photos and details in the post shall be most explicit, because personally I thought that I will stay in other property.
It was clean and comfortable, the place was quiet and easily to access metro station.

The water in the shower in one bathroom was not getting heated properly.
Nice and cosy apartment with well equipped kitchen. Clean sheets and a really good residential location. The owner had a really detailed checkin instructions which helped.

Some slippers would be a good asset for the house in the future, and a light on the balcony would make it a perfect ten.
Very clean and profesional stuff, there is a book inside with every information you can think of about the city, attractions, the appartament, metro maps, links, everything.

This property is a wonderful apartment located just outside of central Milan. Guido, the property manager, works hard to make sure you have a great experience. The apartment is clean and spacious. The neighborhood is nice. The ability to park for free is a nice perk. It is an easy metro ride to the city center. We really enjoyed our time at Casa Carozzi.

Nice place to stay in Milan. Apartment is as shown, clean and comfy. Few mins walk to metro station. check in was easy and as explained in email. For breakfast there is near by bakery and some restaurants.

The air conditioner was connected to outside with a gap, and mosquitoes were coming in through it. Because of this, we suffered from heat at night, and in the end we plugged the gap with towels.
The interior decoration was pretty. It was spacious and quiet. The owner was helpful.

The shower head needs to be fixed because the water is splashing everywhere but besides that, everything else is great.
The apartment was very well equipped, had everything you could need, even coffee, sugar, salt and umbrellas. The host was really great and helpful. Location is amazing, its close to metro station and the neigbourhood was very peaceful and family friendly. The bed is very comfortable and the apartment was a perfect size for 2 people. We had a really good time.

Mosquitos, the problem is applied for Milano city at the time of my visit - we closed the window all the time at Guido's appartment
The place is quiet and calm, i get my sleep uninterrupted without being far from the main attractions of Milano

Everything was fine :)
The landlord is a pleasant person. Everything was done very comfortable way. We arrived late in Milan and came to the place without any difficulties. The location and transportation are perfect. Cozy and lovely area. We picked up the keys from the postbox. The owner told in detail how to get to the apartment and attached valuable links and photos. This made the task very easy :) The apartment is also very nice and comfortable. We, with my friend, enjoyed our stay.

great modern, well equipped flat, close to metro. easy check in with a very organized owner who sends you a list of places to visit, where to eat (great and cheap restaurant that he recommended!) -- found this super helpful :-) has fully equipped kitchen, fridge, internet works great, lovely area close to metro.

it was cold inside, but I understand it was due to energy saving policy and unexpected rains
there was no breakfast, however the kitchen had all the utensils and necessities to prepare food (which I would not expect from a private apartment) the localisation was very convenient, easy access to transport, restaurants and groceries

Online checkin was a bit detailed at first. However, considering the fact that you don't really meet the host it is explainable why the checkin works in that way.
Owner was very pacient to answer our questions. You need a cellphone though, to communicate with the host (which shouldn't be a problem for most european guests). Communication can be done via email as well. The owner responded quickly to any mail. We liked the area. You find nice authentic restaurants close to the apartment (walking distance 5 to 10 minutes).
