Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe beautiful Tuscan hilltop village of Barga wasn’t on our two-month Europe itinerary but we had a few nights spare. After reading about the town’s links with Scotland, we were intrigued - just how would an Italian-speaking Scot sound? We were determined to find out, so we booked Casa Luna for two nights. That spur-of-the-moment decision was rewarded on our first encounter with Maraica, the energetic and enthusiastic agent who was waiting for us at the apartment to explain everything we needed to know in her beautiful Scottish lilt. It was such a warm and friendly welcome to the home which has been thoughtfully renovated, decorated and equipped with everything you need while travelling. Often it’s the small features that matter and Casa Luna excelled here with its bedside USB points, super-soft bed, quality linen, fluffy towels, comfortable lounge, and personal amenities including new toothbrushes (in case you forget yours). There was even a guitar ready to play much to my husband’s delight. Later that afternoon we found ourselves in the supermarket in front of the shelves of vino rosso. A friendly and cheerful man beside us suggested (in a Scottish accent) that we choose a particular bottle “on special and a great drop”. He was wearing a motorcycling t-shirt and we got chatting, comparing motorbikes, then music and travels, enjoying each other’s stories in the middle of the aisles. Next thing, Maraica greeted us and said “I see you’ve met Paul!” Unbeknown to us both, Paul owns and renovated the apartment we were staying in. Such a lovely and unexpected coincidence. We had a wonderful time in the apartment and the town, enjoying some great walks, meals and wine. Thanks for the memories (and the sneak peak at your toy collection Paul). Highly recommended.

United KingdomEverything was perfect! From the excellent communication with Paul and Maraica, to the fabulous location, the whole stay exceeded expectations. High quality finish, immaculately clean throughout, comfy bed with great linen, well appointed kitchen with washing machine, gorgeous garden space. So many extra little touches like fruit and drinks on arrival, good WiFi, netflix, toiletries in case you've forgotten something...can honestly say we've not stayed anywhere that's blown us away from start to finish like this place. Restaurants, supermarket, baker, butcher all within a few minutes walk away, parking close by also. Highly, highly recommended.

United KingdomNothing we didn't like but my advice for arriving the first time (if by car) would be to leave the car somewhere and walk to the apartment to meet Maraica. You can figure out parking once you have a better idea of location. The apartment is in the old town, though close to the entrance. You can park near but not directly outside. And don't bring a silly big suitcase like us! Think steep cobble streets!
Accomodation exceeded expectations. Every detail has been thought of and the apartment is beautifully decorated. The bed is one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on with lovely linen provided. Kitchen was fully equipped. Fresh fruit was provided as well as a bottle of prosecco and some beers in the fridge which was much appreciated and enjoyed out in the courtyard with a stunning view! Extra toiletries were also supplied in the bathroom. Barga is so beautiful you might not spend much time in the apartment, but if you're home of an evening then there is also Netflix to enjoy. Last but definitely not least, Maraica who checked us in and out is an absolute star and a lot of fun too! Thank you!

IsraelYou should know that the parking is a bit far, but really, really worth it! If the apartment is available, don't give it up, it's just a dream.
The apartment is full of extras, extra coffee, sugar, spices, a lot of pampering dishes, plastic bags, toiletries, towels, tablecloths, there is a lot of everything, and also because they were afraid that I would arrive when the supermarket was already closed (it was Sunday) they filled my fridge with a lot of good things. They took care of my parking, escorted me from the parking lot to the apartment, helped with the things, Show me everything there is to know, The kitchen is pampering with a coffee machine and milk frother, clean pots, lots of dishes, a pleasure to cook, drink coffee, rest. They asked how I was doing during my stay, took care of me like parents.

United KingdomThe location was fabulous with absolutely stunning views of the surrounding town and mountains. The cottage is beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. Paul and Maraika were incredibly helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make our visit enjoyable. We arrived to fresh fruit, snacks, Prosecco and beer in the fridge and everything we could possibly need for our stay. Paul has thought to all of the little details and this is what really makes Casa Luna stand out. Would highly recommend Casa Luna- we will definitely be returning!

United KingdomThere is nothing not to like about this property.
The layout, the space, the comfort, the privacy and the location made this property perfect for our needs. The cottage was very tastefully decorated and had all the facilities that anyone would need. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay as good as it can possibly be. This property was a real find for us and we will almost certainly return. CanadaNothing. Everything was wonderful.
Paul’s house was a lovely, warm haven in Barga old town. Besides being fully stocked for a week long stay, Paul had some welcome beverages and fruit waiting for us, which was so appreciated. The bed was so comfortable and there was no skimping on the quality of the sheets and towels. Paul was a wonderful, responsive host and we will certainly stay there again when next we are in Barga.

United KingdomNothing...
We returned to Barga for our anniversary 25 years after honeymooning there and our Host could not have been more helpful or accommodating. What a beautiful house, in a fantastic location, right in the town but with a lovely garden with great views. The house had everything that we needed for 3 or 4 days of relaxation and sightseeing in the awesome Garfagnana mountains. The bars and restaurants in town are really lovely, some within a less than a minute's walk. Thank you again to our kind host - the best of Scottish hospitality in the heart of Italy. What more can I say...!

United StatesI booked because the ratings were off the chart on Booking.com. The fixtures end furniture are straight IKEA. Quite serviceable but not a charming interior
Barga is a dreamy location. This house is perfectly located at the foot of the old city. The staff was attentive. The one bedroom upstairs is comfortable, and Lee other room with the trundle bed was fine for my adult son who joined us. At this price and that location it was perfect.
