Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RussiaHotel is located in 2 km from Pomezia-Santa Palomba train station where you can get to Roma Termini in 20 minutes. But you can’t walk to the station because there are no sidewalks and it’s an industrial area. That’s why a hotel offers transfer to the station and from the station (5 euros).
Cozy decoration, polite staff, good price, fast Wifi.

United StatesWhile the building is quite interesting (very old convent fully transformed into a modern hotel), the location is fairly isolated. A taxi or walk through some farmland is required to reach the main road. There is a very good restaurant immediately adjacent to the hotel, so for some this may not be an issue or may even be desirable. In some areas the free wifi does not work well. The suite is advertised as having a living room, however ours was just a large bedroom.
Extremely friendly and accommodating staff. Good free breakfast and adjacent restaurant. Cheap shuttle service offered to train station. Nice pool with attached bar.

SloveniaThe acoustic insulation is not good, but due to many rooms being directly under the same roof it is almost impossible to have a proper acoustic insulation. If your neighbors are loud you definitely need some earplugs to sleep. The breakfast was good, but the choice minimal - only sweet food, no salty option (but you should keep in consideration that you're in Italy and here the typical breakfast consists of coffee and croissants)
I have arrived late and the staff left the card for the room outside. The place is nice, it's an ancient cloister that was refurbished and transformed in a hotel/restaurant. Good value for money.

United KingdomThere was nothing we did not like about our stay, we did have a bit of trouble sorting out the lights in the room but it was more us not following the instructons than anything else
The Casale Certosa is situated down a side road and is lovely and quiet. The rooms are really spacious, airy and comfortable. The bathroom was large, clean and had everything that we needed. Breakfast was a buffet self serve which had everything you would require to set you up for the day. We had a meal in the restaurant in the evening which was good value, with really generous portions. The owner was a really friendly person, nothing was too much trouble for him and he really made us feel welcome, thank you for a lovely stay

IrelandThe WiFi is dreadful. I gave up and hot spotted with my phone in the end. If you don't have a car stay somewhere else! If reception hasn't organised my lift to the village it would have been impossible to get to there and it's only about 5 km away. When it came to book a taxi to the airport the only option was a fixed price of €85. The same journey on the way up, on the meter, was less than €60. While the food in the restaurant is very good the waiters had no time or patience for a woman eating on her own. I eat all over the world in restaurants by myself and hadn't expected this attitude here. A good sign is that it's full of locals in the evenings but the fact that despite my trying, via Google translate, to see a wine list, none was forthcoming and I ended up ordering an expensive bottle of Prosecco just because it was easiest, is not a good sign. The waiter who served me my desert, threw in on the table and walked away. I don't expect to go to another country and expect my language to be spoken; that's unspeakable arrogance. But I do expect a hotel to make an effort and this fell short on many fronts.
The best thing about this hotel is the dark haired woman on reception. She very kind and even organised for me to get a lift with a staff member - for €10 - to the local village. The pool is also amazing. The food in the restaurant is good.

United KingdomOne major downside was its location - it's about 2 km from Pavona and the road leading up to it is quite busy without a pavement, making it a difficult accommodation for those without a hire car. Additionally, a few weeks before our arrival, I informed the owner that we would be arriving late due to a delayed flight. While he initially agreed to ensure someone would be there to check us in, on the day of our arrival, he only sent us the location and didn't respond to any of my subsequent messages. As a result, we ended up outside the closed reception at midnight. Thankfully, a worker at the restaurant on the premises was able to contact the owner and get the check-in details for us. Overall, while the hotel itself was lovely, the lack of communication and difficult location made for a stressful arrival experience.
Great, here's an example review that incorporates the points you mentioned: We recently stayed at this hotel and overall, I had a decent experience. On the positive side, the price was very reasonable and the hotel itself was absolutely beautiful.

SpainIf you don't have a car, the timetable of your visiting in city is not so flexible and you need plan your schedule in advance to make sure you can catch up the train.
The hotel locates in the countryside but it is easy to access to the Roma city center by train. Everything is comfortable. The breakfast is simple but it is good enough. The service is excellent and efficient with very good/clear communication. I appreciate their friendly, amiable and considerate help, which make me feel like be at a familiar place. They carry me to the train station in the early of morning and pick up me in the evening just need a call with reasonable cost.

Czech RepublicThe mechanism to lock the door in the room was very far from obvious, it took me long time to solve it, somewhat due to language barrier. The area on the other side of the main road is quite unpleasant and would not want to visit it at night, but it is not that close to the accommodation.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Room and bathroom were clean and spacious. Restaurant was very good. The immediate surroundings are quite nice (further away not so much - see below).

United KingdomThe most uncomfortable bed that I have ever tried to sleep in. After a long drive this was so disappointing. I had a twin room so put one mattress on top of the other to try and improve the situation. Even then it was an unpleasant night. I spend many weeks on the road each year so have tested many beds. It is a shame to leave a negative comment on an otherwise pleasant place.
Nice place, friendly reception, good breakfast

United Statesnothing! that black thing on the ground called BED! in this place
This place is horrible! they have put old matres by the door in a room(pictures available ) with 4 more beds, and one bathroom outside the room for the whole entire place maybe 10 rooms with 5 beds in each and! ONE BATHROOM! the place was dirty, dark, and unwelcoming after they showed me the bed!! I refused to stay there and sleep on the floor! and they did not want to refund my $$$ !!! the price !! is the price of a 4-star Hotel! I left the place and stay elsewhere, please pay attention to the black thing on the floor ! which is an old mattress covered with back plastic! that's your bed to sleep on !! ( he was not allowing me to take pictures of the place ) it is also the fault protection of BOOKING.com! any whole in the wall they put on their website and people are losing the confidence on this booking sites because they do not deliver what they offer! so I look at other sites for my travel needs thank you

GermanyWe were traveling by motorbike. Due to that we had some health issues and the people from the hotel bought us everything we needed in the pharmacy. The service was super fine. We had a lot of fun with the host family and laughed together. The food was super as well. After a long journey on our bikes they gave us everything we needed and even more. I loved to stay there and I will spent more holidays there! 10/10 is not even enough!
