Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkI believe the prices are above the market for what the hotel is. For 800 euros/night in low season you can stay at Ritz Paris or any hotel at this level.
The location is beautiful and the hotel is also beautiful. For sure it has a 5* service and facilities. We definitely will go back.

The most amazing and enchanting property. We absolutely loved it our stay at Castello Del Nero. This is definitely a five star experience. The staff are incredible and their attention to their guests is quite unbelievable. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt like we were staying in a guest house. The food was also amazing!

United StatesThe hotel really needs an indoor dining room which it has but is used only by the Michelin star restaurant
November being an unpredictable weather month the breakfast was served in a patio room with plastic screens not very cozy. With the rainy conditions it would have been better to serve in the indoor dining room

Hong KongAs we went in July high season, we paid around EUR12k or more for a double room. Would expect this price for a suite but what can we say :/
Only 30min drive from Florence and 15min drive from Antinori winery. The room decor is minimalistic and the hotel gives you a Zen vibe. There is also charging spot for EV. The meal at the one star restaurant on terrace overlooking sunset was our best memory!

United KingdomI can't think of anything else. This is such a great place to stay. The only thing I can think of is, more on site dining options would've been nice. However, there are good local restaurants 15-20 minute walk away in a local village. So it is not a big minus.
A gorgeous period building full of character but modernised to highest standards. Out room was spacious, mellow tones of grey and green, overlooking the valley. One could spend a month without getting bored. Lavender and cypres fill the ambience. Breakfast area had a gorgeous view.

SwitzerlandAbsolut perfection. It was better than in my dreams about Tuscany. The scenery from the hotel is magnificent mixing vineyards and olive trees (Como owns and grow the full land around), the Castel is superb, the team is perfect and nicely gentle, the food is amazing (Michelin stared chef Giovanni Luca di Pirro) and the situation is perfect, near both Firenze and Siena with easy roads.

ItalyThe gray interior throughout is quite depressing. The restaurant and bar decor are so bad we decided not to eat at either restaurant during our stay. This property could be phenomenal if the common area decor including restaurants were updated.
The pool is incredible when its sunny. The breakfast is also outstanding. Staff are very friendly.

United KingdomThe decor was horrible - grey everywhere, walls, ceiling, floor, furniture. There were no pictures on the walls. The furniture was modern corporate stuff - all grey, no charm - completely at odds with a historic castle. My friends (in two separate bedrooms) had horrible rooms, small with no windows / outlook. I had a fab room in terms of comfort and view but it was noisy as delivery vans came at 6 am each morning and noisily unloaded just outside my window. The bar was horrible and there was no comfortable lounge to sit in. There was a lovely outside terrace but the weather was not warm enough when we were there to use it and I suspect in the summer it could be too hot. The spa was weird - not nice. A steam room but no sauna. There was a good sized hot tub / jacuzzi but one could not access it from the swimming pool area as a hedge had been grown between the pool and the spa so that one had to go round to the main entrance of the spa which involved a long walk and flights of stairs from the pool area. The hedge also blocked the view from the jacuzzi and spa (and it should be a fab view across the hills/ olive groves and vineyards). The hedge is madness! Bar and restaurant staff slow and did not know how to make tea. They must have many English clients - why don't they learn how to make a pot of tea properly! Heat the tea pot, put in the tea-bags, then add boiling water. Simple!
Breakfast was good and location, in an orangery with a terrace, great. Absolutely stunning, uplifting views. Good dinners too. Reception staff very nice and helpful.

United Statesthe poor customer service from all staff - front desk; bell people; spa/gym; pool and restaurant. no one seemed to care or engage. example: drivers in the driveway fighting with each other and blocking the exit for guests not properly managed the aircon in the room: wouldn't turn off the head waiter and service at the restaurant. example, waiting 45 mins for dessert and the bill. Chastising guests for arriving late for breakfast making everyone in the restaurant unnecessarily uncomfortable manager has offered free 2 night stay in the future. appreciate the gesture but should have instead refunded 2 nights as we are highly unlikely to ever return

United StatesThe service and food. The experience wasn’t comparable to the other top Tuscan properties. Aside from the manager at The Pavilion restaurant who was great, the service around the property was very disappointing. It doesn’t come close to the standards of other luxury properties in the region, especially at the high prices.
The property and setting were beautiful.
