Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SerbiaWe liked it all, just info for people coming next -The restaurant Gradale (for dinner) has limited options for people expecting classic Italian food, it's very elevated and specific regarding choices of ingredients. Not for us, but many people would love it for sure. -Taxi is more expensive than expected because the taxi charge us from the moment it is called no matter where it's coming from, so to the centre it goes up to 25 euros. If you get a taxi from the centre of Perugia it's around 15 euros cause the start price is normal.
Pure perfection! I can't get over how beautiful everything in Castello di Monterone was. It's like you stepped in another world. The gardens are lovely, many places to sit and enjoy the EXTRAORDINARY view. The rooms are lovely, the cleaning is very detailed, the best! I am still dreaming about the breakfast we had there. Homemade bread, local eggs that melt in your mouth, fresh juice, jam and FANTASTIC muffins, cakes, cookies, biscuits... Overall a spectacular experience and would recommend to everyone!

United StatesThe only thing that could have made it any better...was if we didn't have to leave.
We have stayed in several "castle hotels" in Europe over the years. THIS particular property is more than just AMAZING! The whole property has been lovingly restored by the family that runs the hotel and it shows everywhere! Not knowing exactly what the rooms were like, we booked a "classic" room. It was wonderful and castle-cool! The view of the court yard was super. Large bathroom and well appointed. Our dinner and the breakfast were as excellent as the hotel itself. Super and easy parking. There are spa facilities and a great pool and hot tubs. The views of the surrounding area and distance to Perugia make it well located. If you want a "castle" experience or are looking for a castle-destination wedding...look no further! A MOST excellent place to stay. Cannot wait to return! A reason alone to visit Perugia!

United KingdomThe only, tiny thing we’d change is the music in the restaurant. Slightly intrusive, and not easy on the ear. But not bad enough to spoil the experience.
Where to begin? A truly extraordinary building set on the hills facing Perugia. Stylish, beautiful, elegant. This is a dream destination. The castle has been sensitively restored, mixing history and 21st century luxury. The views are incredible. The rooms are well proportioned. The English speaking staff were friendly, helpful and always smiling. We wanted to stay forever… so we’ll be back again soon - for a longer stay. It’s expensive - but worth it. Am still smiling.

United KingdomThe little castle is very special, honey-stoned with quirky but very comfortable rooms. The only downsides were: noises from the room above which were disconcerting and a €100 fee imposed because we needed to keep the room because of the late Ryanair flight home which seemed a bit mean when the hotel was more or less deserted.
The view over towards Perugia is fantastic and, in the lovely weather we had, it was hard to imagine anywhere better.

ItalyIt would have been nice to have tea/coffee makings in the room. The restaurant is extremely modern in style which is a slight shame since you are staying in a castle - but I imagine that couldn’t be avoided!
It was wonderful to stay in what feels like a ‘real’ castle (especially for a castle ‘geek’). The rooms are all individual and nicely decorated. Great views towards Perugia. We used the pool (which was chilly in October) but it was lovely to sit in the 40C jacuzzi immediately afterwards. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and for breakfast. The staff were great and the menu was different and interesting; I had been worried I wouldn’t find anything to suit my tastes but in the end we are very well. The selection at breakfast was excellent. It was my birthday that weekend and the restaurant staff marked it both at dinner and breakfast (the latter with a beautifully decorated plate with a fruit ‘torta’) which was much appreciated.
