Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe room itself and the facilities are pretty beat up with parts of the door and bed frames missing. The bed was really hard, and there was some left over hair here and there from the previous guests. Stayed here for NYE so the price was pretty high.
Quaint, clean, and practical. Everything worked as expected and the staff was very kind. We were able to store our luggage in a locked room early since we arrived before check in. A short walk from the bus station was very nice and it’s not too far from the major attractions.

AustraliaMy issue came about from an unruly, large school group of teenage girls continually making too much noise right through the night on all floors. When bringing it to the attention of staff, it was left to me to confront the teachers who were supposed to be controlling the group. Totally unacceptable.
Reasonable accommodation.

IrelandA working TV and access to wifi.
The hotel itself is basic but practical in terms of location and my room was very spacious. However, my TV wasn't working and neither was the wifi so I was limited to using phone data which wasn't ideal. The location is good with the city centre only a 25 -30 minute walk away. Happy overall!

United KingdomStaff gave wrong info re spa facilities, said was included in price it is not it's 30 euros per person so we declined. They couldnt/wouldn't pre order a taxi so we were late for 1 reservation. No cups in room and when asked staff they wouldn't provide even though the paper cups from breakfast would have sufficed. Air con was controlled by reception so you had to ask for it on or off and no choice re temp. Fridge didn't work. Had to move furniture to plug TV in. Room serviced but rubbish not removed. Have to ask reception for a TV remote and hand it back or charge of 25euros.
Reasonably clean even though old and dated. Location was good for termini Station, walk to some attractions such as colesseum and hop on hop off bus tours is approx 30min. Breakfast was nice but not alot of choice. Luggage can be stored for free. Wouldn't return but ok for a base to sleep and explore.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel is close enough to the centre of Rome to walk. This is exactly what we wanted. A place we could put our head down to sleep and then get going and explore Rome.

CyprusNothing was as the pictures and nothing was working.! No a/c, no refrigerator and the bed was "stucked" to the window door that couldn't be opened. Luckily they have changed us the room next day but still we had no cold water because the refrigerator wasn't working also. Few of the staff could understand English in order to communicate. Only two plugs for a family of 4 persons to charge our phones plus our disability advices:( ...There was no restaurant to sit after 9:30 in the morning. It was totally locked and closed.
We liked the spa facilities found to another building located about 300m away

AustriaThe furniture is really old, but if you are out all day visiting the city, the place is suitable for spending time there only sleeping. The bathroom is really old and there is no ventilation. Although it was cleaned, it always looked dirty because it is old. It is really loud outside, so there is no way sleeping with open windows during the summer.
The location is really good. You can reach metro and bus stations in few minutes of walk. Room also has air conditioning. Beds were not that bad. TV worked.

South AfricaI know it's a budget-friendly hotel, but that is not an excuse for things to be shabby and broken in the room - we hung a towel on the coat hook: it came out of the wall and fell on the ground. We try to lock the door from the inside: the handle of the lock is missing. We try to turn on the AC - no remote control anywhere to be found. The hotel was very noisy even in the early hours of the morning - clearly staff do not request guests to be quiet when returning from a night out. We were grateful we did not accept the first room offered to us which was literally right next to the reception area which would have been incredibly noisy and disruptive to try to sleep through. The Pillows provided by the hotel are incredibly thick and unyieldingly hard. After one night of a painful neck I couldn't stand it again and had to request a softer pillow, which the staff member only found after much digging around.
Good location about 10min walk from the metro station. Decent supermarket, caffes, and restaurants near by. Thanks to the staff member who managed to find a softer pillow for me.

NetherlandsWe have been in many hotels and AirBnB's. But this room? No. No remote control for Airco. Also room old and dirty. One of the towels shredded when using. Very basic. It's in the center and that probably why they can charge 150 for a night. I would not recommend.
Breakfast was simple. Just bread. They also offered some more luxury variety croissants. That was the only luxury in the Hotel.
