Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyThe breakfast was good but could be better if there was some detailed information of what is included in the 'dolce' or 'salato' breakfast option. We just had a generic question if we wanna have dolce or salato.
The room was amazing, and clean. The only thing is that the air conditioner was not working properly but it was OK we left the window open during the night.

United KingdomNothing.
Stylish newly completed small hotel in the nice little town of Salve. The hotel has been finished to an exceptionally high standard, beautiful shiny marble! Delightful rooms; ours had a view over the patio area below, lemon trees & our own small sitting out area with chairs & sun lounger. Our breakfast was superb & the staff were very attentive & helpful giving us information about the numerous restaurants both in Salve & other nearby places. We ate in two very good restaurants within 150m of the hotel. Plenty of street car parking either outside or very close to hotel. Highly recommended, we stayed two nights but would have been more than happy to stay longer if we were not touring elsewhere. Thank you, Coclee Palace Suite!

CanadaThis place was such a great surprise! This boutique hotel is lovely. The staff was very warm and welcoming. They made sure they did anything in their power for us to enjoy our stay, including offering us a few Italian drinks in the mini-fridge and towels for the pool. We also took their offer to have our (very generous) breakfast brought to the room and didn't regret it! The pool is small but clean and fresh, perfect for waking you up after the siesta, and set in a decor of lemon trees and modern sculptures. The indoor decor was fascinating, and we were impressed with the offering of alcohol from Italy and the rest of the world. Our room was clean, spacious, with a good wi-fi connection, and located in a tranquil village. We slept like babies! Local trattorias are a must if you stay in Salve for the night. Thank you for your hospitality; we will be back!

GermanyAC was a bit difficult to handle, one lamp was broken.
Very stylish hotel, everything looks brand new (though opening was in 2019). Spacious rooms, free minibar (first round) and superb breakfast. Central location in very quiet street.

AustraliaPool needed to be entered using a submerged chair. Breakfast tailored to Italian tastes so we needed to ask for something savoury and were given some ham and prosciutto.
Beautifully presented and immaculately cleaned. Excellent location. We were obligingly shuttled to the beach and railway station.

United StatesTrip advisor We stayed at the Coclee for 7 nights and it could not have been a better experience. What made the visit so great were the people, the service and the hotel itself. The People The staff at the hotel were fabulous. It is a family business, so there are numerous family members working at the hotel. All of the employees treated it like it was their family and we were members of the family too. Every accommodation we asked for was met with a smile. You will not find nicer people. The Service Wow, the service! Every morning we were served a breakfast which was out of this world, even by how delicious European breakfasts usually are. The hotel has a shuttle that will take you anywhere in Salve. Though we had a car it was just easier most days to hop in the shuttle and let them drive us to the lido or to an excursion. The hotel provided us with a detailed list of local restaurants and made all of our reservations for dinner, lidos, and excursions. The service was the last word! The Hotel The hotel opened in 2019, so it looks brand new. The building was an old olive oil factory, so much of the decor features nods to its former life. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were large by European standards, and it had sleek design. The town of Salve is a little sleepy but it’s a great place for a southern Pulgian home base. You can get a driver at night to take you to dinner in other towns and on the sea but you’ll be thrilled to come back to the Coclee.

United KingdomI couldn’t name one fault, it was all exceptional.
The service and kindness of the staff make you feel like you’re staying at the most expensive 5* hotel, I felt like a true Queen when staying at Coclee! They were unbelievably helpful and booked reservations for me in nearby restaurants, arranged a bicycle for me to rent at the weekend and they were always on hand if I had any questions. They’d often do things for me before I even had to ask! The rooms are beautiful with high ceilings and not over crowded. The rooms and the hotel in general are absolutely spotless, they really take care of the hotel and the attention to detail is incredible, the grandpas old Navy artefacts, the lego bonsai tree, it’s a feast for the eyes! The pool is delightful and perfect for a dip, accompanied with an aperol spritz! Lots of good restaurants in the town and 10 minutes from the beach. I could carry on as to why I think this hotel is a must, but I’d be here for days! I’ll 100% be back!

LuxembourgThe AC in our room/s unfortunately didn’t freeze as we would expect. Unfortunately, the combination of heat and humidity made it very difficult for the ma Hines to cool lower that 25, which is great for many, but we did struggle a bit.
Great attention to the guests and superior service. I loved that there was a driver to drop guests off to the bench and didn’t have to use my car to go back and forth!

SpainThe only complaint we had was the rooster on the property next door to the hotel. If you are staying in one of the rooms with a terrace facing the pool, bring earplugs because the rooster will definitely be waking you up at 5am and continuing to sing until midday. We let the staff know about this after the first night, however, there weren’t any rooms to move to for the following night. When a room was available, we were moved into one facing the street and there weren’t any issues with the rooster from that room. There was a bit of back and forth between us and hotel, trying to come to an agreement we felt was fair. In the end, we were moved to the street facing room for the 3rd and 4th night. The hotel did comp breakfast for days 2-4 as well but it would’ve been nice to also have been returned the difference in price between the room that was initially booked and the room that we were moved to for nights 3 and 4. All in all, the staff were kind and helpful. Though we did feel there was just a bit of inflexibility from the management when we initially brought up the issue.
The rooms were nice, spacious and extremely clean. The bed was very comfortable. The location of the hotel is in a nice place in Salve, walking distance from some lovely restaurants. It is also a really close drive from many of Salento’s beautiful beaches.
