How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Everything was amazing. Elena reached out a couple of days before our arrival with all the instructions, we did the check in after noon, so even when they weren't available to receive us personally we had all the steps to do our check in and the morning after were able to meet Elena who went above and beyond, giving us an umbrella because it was raining and we didn't have one. The room is equipped with everything you'll need, the beds are super comfortable and it was very clean, like a new bedroom clean. The location is perfect, we arrived from Termini in the subway. Also, if you just want to get lost in the city you just need to go out and start walking, I assure you will be able to find amazing things to do within walking distance. Thank you for everything, hope to visit again soon!

The residence is in a nice area, clean, safe, walking distance to Colosseum and multiple restaurants. a great bike shop that we did a night tour of Rome w/dinner. So fun and historically interesting . Very nice kitchen area. Elena left us fruit, treats, had many beverages available. Elena, is kind, thoughtful, she went above and beyond to return a jacket I had left. Customer service at it's finest!

This is such a fantastic apartment and great price as well. It was extremely clean, had all of the toiletries and kitchen amenities you could think of, and the staff was extremely nice. It was just a short walk from some of the ruins and a train station so it is easy to get to and from. Not to mention the neighborhood itself is lovely and very safe. I would recommend this place to anyone going to Rome and will stay there again if I come back to the city in the future

Unusual to have the shower in the bedroom, rather than the bathroom, but it wasn't a problem

The location is great, the place is neat, comfy and the host was just amazing. Nice neighbourhood, my fifth time in Rome and always nice to come back to a place like Relais Circo Massimo.

Well equipped location, very clean and cosy. Friendly host. Perfectly located at Circo Massimo. Better than on the pictures. More 4 star than 3 star location. Highly recommended!

We liked everything about this property from the very helpful and welcoming staff to the location and facilities offered by the property. The room was spacious and extremely clean with access to a garden. The location is excellent for sightseeing, near the metro and with several restaurants and coffee shops nearby. If we return to Rome we will definitely stay at Relais Circo Massimo again.

Shower in the room might not be to everyone's taste, but it works all right as you can open the paio door and air out the room nicely

This hotel is one of the few I am willing to voluntarily write a review for. Despite the bathroom being inside the room, the facilities are complete and clean, with complimentary beverages. The child intentionally took a business card upon departure, indicating that they plan to stay here again on their next visit to Rome.

The place is very nice and cozy, everything is well-prepared, and the access and exit are very independent. The staff is friendly and efficient. It's very well located, close to good restaurants, shops, and transportation. It's also close to Testaccio (a very good atmosphere with excellent restaurants), Circo Massimo, Colosseum, and the Baths of Caracalla. Highly recommended and peaceful.

Location is perfect in the city Center in elegant neighbourhood. We could walk every where to main attractions and there is a metro stop 5 min walk from hotel. The room was super clean , everything was new and very comfortable. There is capsule coffee machine in the room that we enjoy very much. The room has access to the nice garden. It was quite and we could sleep good. Especially I would like to mention hospitality of Svetlana and Marco. It was wonderful stay! Highly recommend! I will come back 100%.

The host, Alessandro, was a pleasure and so hospitable! Really invested in making sure his guests have a lovely stay in Rome. My room was comfortable and relaxing, like a little safe haven, and it was great to have access to the courtyard for fresh air.

Our hosts were warm, helpful and knowledgeable. The room was lovely - calm, cool and inviting - overlooking a shady courtyard with orange and olive trees. The location is fabulous - 10 minutes to the Colosseum and 10 minutes to the Tiber River.

While the bed is very big and comfortable, it made the room a bit crumped.
It is in a good location, esp for my work. The facilities in the apartment were well equipped. The staff are friendly and check-in was easy.
