Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

TurkeyWe found a information note that says they can charge you for tea, linens and towels. We really don't understand is that for additional towels and linens or that we have to use.
Room was so spacious and very well designed. We really liked the interior. Location was so central. But you have to take the tram to reach to duomo. Hotel is nearby the ADI museum so that was a positive thing for us.

TurkeyWhen we were there, Milan was quite hot (28 degrees) and the AC wasn’t working (it was there, but maybe was broken). The room gets a lot of sunlight from both sides and the dark curtains don’t help a lot as they capture heat. Opening windows somewhat helped but be prepared to close the blinds when you are here. Unfortunately, there are other buildings nearby and the windows are huge. So if you’re concerned about privacy, you will have to close the blinds. Lastly, if you open the windows, be prepared for noise from the street. It’s a quiet street but people still make noise and if the windows are open they can be quite annoying.
- Quite stylish and modern apartment - Host was amazing. She was nice and really helpful - Location is super close to a lot of Asian restaurants while not directly on the street - Has quite an interesting elevator (you just have to see it)

AustraliaThe hotel is located in Chinatown, with many Chinese food options right outside. It’s also not far from the train station. The inside is like a tunnel. Our room is small but cozy, facing the backyard so quiet and private.

GermanyThe handel of closet was in a bad shape. If your hand is a little bit wet, then you can not open the closet doors. And the pillow and mattress were not comfortable for me. I did not like the bed.
Location, nice staff.

MaltaIt is my second time in this place. The hotel is well located (in the Chinese district, 20 minutes by tram or 40 minutes by walk from Duomo). It is not very expensive and I like the design of it. Our apartment was very big and comfortable. Also communication with the staff was easy - they speak English and answer quite fast.

AustraliaThe shower drain overfilled with water during each shower as if it couldn’t keep up with the flow rate. Not sure if it was blocked as couldn’t see the drain underneath large tiles but this was annoying as water would overflow into the bathroom floor.
Central location, the style of the room, high ceilings which made it feel bigger, the location to China town which has excellent street food.

GermanyThe pillows were not very comfortable and I got ache in my neck because of this. We didn’t need the air-conditioner, but it seemed not to work either. The location is in Chinatown, not too far from the center, but because it was not very close to the metro station (15 mins walk to Moscova station and 20 mins walk to Garibaldi station), it took quite a lot of time to commute to places. Also, while it’s great that there is free coffee, it would be great if there was a kettle to make tea too!
The room as well as the bathroom were very clean and pretty-designed with big windows that let in a lot of light. There was even a bidet in the bathroom, which was so nice! I had never stayed in a hostel room that has a bidet before.

United StatesNothing on the negative side! There is something I probably should have been aware of, given the description and the reasonable price. It was more of an Airbnb type apartment than a typical hotel, or let's just call it a micro-hotel, which contributed to us being somewhat confused in trying find it.
The host was wonderful! She really went all out for us to get us a cab when we were last minute (late really!) to get to the fabulous Duomo at the time we reserved for. The whole stay was terrific, including its location in lively, but not too crazy, Chinatown. That was an unexpected bonus, though I'd figured that out before arriving. Loved Milano and Varenna, Lake Como, by the way. My partner liked the design of the apartment.
