Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyCheck in and check out were a bit brusque, because it is the same staff who is operating the restaurant and cafe. There is an outdoor location behind a gate where they allow you to store your bike(s), but it is exposed to the elements and maybe not as secure as one might like.
Great location in historic center of Egna, which was quite charming. Nice restaurant on ground floor where they served an excellent breakfast buffet. We also had dinner at the restaurant, which was good.

GermanyThe storage place for the bicycles could be better organized. It was located in the courtyard of the hotel and was quite crowded. It was a nice warm day without rain, so we had no problems, but a storage room for bikes would have been nice.
The room was very nice, clean and cozy. Breakfast was very good, lots of choice, coffee was excellent. The staff was very friendly. The hotel was located in a small town, quite interesting with low arcades and narrow corridors. It was a nice stay, worth a visit.

United Arab EmiratesWith all due respect for Egna, the location, paying €85 per person in July is not cheap. This little village is really only a base from which to travel in the Weinstrasse, and it comes at a moderately dear price. It is true that this region has seen rising prices of pretty much everything, hence the rise in accommodation prices.
New structure, pretty well done, with aircon too, which is a big plus during summer heat (it'll only get hotter from here). Very clean. Friendly stuff, professional and attentive to client needs.

FinlandThe air conditioning didn't function very well or then I didn't understand how to use it but the room was too hot and I didn't manage to lower the temperature.
The hotel was very centrally located and the premises were quite nice. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. The room was comfortable and clean.

United KingdomCheck out is 10am, and I had all intentions to make it exactly that, as my next destination was 2.5h away with a 15.30 check in (not a hotel, so no chance to come earlier). It's freezing cold outside. I went for breakfast at 8am and when I returned to my room at 8.38, the cleaner had stripped the bed, removed the towels, switched off the heather and blocked all the windows open already. I had no choice but to leave at 8.50am!! And indeed I was in for a looong frozen wait further up the mountains.
This was such an incredibly nice place. Big rooms, very nice bathroom. Everything is spotless clean. Friendly and welcoming staff who were very helpful. The hotel is right in the centre of town, and Egna turned out to be more interesting than expected, with it's pretty unique and very low archways. The hotel is also very close to where the buses leaves from. Excellent WiFi. There is a bar, a restaurant and an outdoor cozy café with heathers. Had the best burgers I have had for a very long time. Even better, it's bustling with activity from early to late and seems to be very popular with the locals. They checked my green pass upon check in, so afterwards I could sit down anywhere whenever I wanted.

SloveniaWe went down for a breakfast at 9am and menwhile the cleaning service already took the sheets of the bed even though we had all our stuff still in our room. They also took the towels so I couldn’t take a shower after breakfast. It never happened to us before, so this was quite unpleasant exprience. Also, we found an old bottle of former guests in the fridge which means they are not really cleaning it. Another thing to keep in mind is that the rooms are above the bar and on friday night people were screaming till 2am, so we couldnt keep the windows open. Also, we were located at first floor, so we could hear the waiters talking at the bar. If you are searching for a peaceful place, this might not be the best choice for you. However the bar is very nice with outdoor seating so it can also be a very nice experience. For dog owners, they charged us 15eur per night for a dog, we never paid so much, not even in much fancier hotels. And there is literally no green area around, you need to drive to walk a dog in the morning. The parking is not private, its on the street, but feels very safe.
Rooms are very nice, modern, comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. There is a restaurant and bar downstairs with ok food. The staff was also very polite. Breakfast is good and served also outside on the plaza which is super nice in sunny weather.

ItalyWhen I booked I’ve paid for the stay from Booking via PayPal, and I checked that the amount was taken from my bank. We were in the hotel all evening from the moment we’ve checked-in. We weren’t difficult to reach the whole time. However, the owner chose to make his employee call us at 11PM to say “your debit card doesn’t have money in it so we still didn’t get the payment”. I’ve no idea how come he believed he could see the amount in my card and call us tell we did not have enough money. - I don’t know, maybe he was afraid we’d escape in the middle of the night without paying. - Then, I went down to show them my PayPal and booking confirmations. -which I absolutely had no obligation to do so, as he had to call booking.com instead of me. They made photos to send to their boss which was on the other side of the phone and was still saying that there was not enough money in my card. What an arrogance. What a poor communication skills to treat a guest that way!!! I immediately called booking.com and they’ve told me that my payment was successful, but the owner was not aware of the fact that he had to check his balance after midnight to see the payments. By the way, whole evening the waitress mentioned many times that “the boss” would not be there the day after so it was better if we paid for the dinner/drinks. And of course we did without questioning. However 9am in the morning “the famous boss” was there. And we finally had the privilege to talk to him in person. I honestly was expecting an apology for the night before. Instead he immediately said it was booking.com’s fault and the payment was ok. Also he added he saw us when we were having some drinks previous evening but did not want to disturb us for this issue. (Seems like for him it was more appropriate to call at 11pm) The sad thing is he was not even aware of the fact that his attitude was rude. That’s the reason instead of explaining to him, I’m writing here.
Cozy, clean, nicely designed, very friendly and positive employees. Good restaurant. We are disappointed with the attitude of the owner as all the other things were almost perfect and we were happy to find a nice place to stay.
