How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The wifi was not stable at all . The sheets and pillows were not comfortable. Shower door was difficult to manoeuvre

- It’s almost perfect, but one issue we had was that the water in the shower took a really long time to get warm (>5min, with the knob turned to the hottest), so my girl got cold under the shower.
- Very good location in the centre of Tirano, less than 10 minute walk from the train station. - We were upgraded for free on arrival from a room with a shared bathroom to one with a private one, free of charge, on arrival! - Free small breakfast (croissant and coffee) included. - The (upgraded) room had a very comfortable double bed, tv, two bedside tables, a wardrobe, safe, hairdryer, adjustable wall heater, bathroom with a shower and toilet. - Nice staff. - Even though the property is close to a busy road, it’s quiet in the room.

It would have been nice to have more options at breakfast, but it was quite early in the morning & we enjoyed what we had (fresh croissants & tea/coffee).
The room and bathroom were large, clean, and comfortable. They were better than expected from the photos. Our host wasn't in when we wanted to check in but she answered the phone straight away and gave us instructions on how to get into our room. Our hosts were very helpful & friendly & the hotel is located in a nice part of the town with walking access to restaurants, train/ bus station. The croissants we had for breakfast were very tasty & fresh!

Attentive staff. The kitchen was closed on the morning we checked out, and our helpful hosts arranged a good breakfast in a close by bar.

The shower set up was a bit precarious. It was hard to keep the water from escaping onto the floor.

All was good.
We were very happy with our room in De la Torre. We even got an upgrade for the room we booked. The room was very clean and comfortable. A good Italian breakfast was included. The location is in the old town, not too far from the railway station.

The room was facing the main road and it was a bit noisy, but it did not interfere with having a good sleep.
There was a strike in Italy, impacting the train schedule, when we were supposed to arrive at the accommodation and we were struggling with finding a mode of transportation. I sent a message to explain the situation and they looked options up and gave me a call. I thought that it was very considerate and I very much appreciated it.

Bathroom is outside the room (not shared). Pillows too small.

We had the widows open due to the heat, so it was no surprise that it was rather noisy in the morning, made worse by a wet road. It would have been quieter with windows closed.
All went well: check-in, breakfast, friendly staff.

The bed is not very confortable, very soft… Almost all the night with water flow noise(from other room probably)or maybe ventilation system. Insulation not so well, we can hear the others come in or go out at 5 am…
Staffs are very nice, they provided us a breakfast bag as we need to leave early in the morning. Very kind, thanks so much. The location is good, 7-10minutes to the train station and a very good restaurant near hear. Very clean and size of the room is perfect. It provides everything you may need.
