Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNothing to dislike, everything was perfect!
The property is magical. We stayed for one night but wished to have stayed longer. The facilities are all brand new and top quality. Honestly the pictures don’t match the beauty of this place. The breakfast was also delicious and the staff where incredibly friendly. We hope we can come back one day!

United StatesThis was our last stop on a 10 days trip to Sicily and this property was by far the best we stayed at. The staff was fantastic and went over and beyond to make our stay the best. The property itself is breathtaking, we used the gym, had a massage, and even walked thru the vineyard in the morning. There are many restaurants within 10-15 min drive which made it convenient. We will be back for sure when we return to Sicily.

MaltaThe hotel lacks guest relations. My husband decided to surprise me by upgrading to a 'suite' since it was our anniversary and my birthday ... before booking a suite please note that the family rooms are on top of the suites... We had a sleepless night as a family checked in and they decided to move furniture from 10pm - midnight- we heard the children running and we could hear the baby crying. We messaged the hotel as no one is onsite at that hour they sent a text apologizing but the noise continued - The next day the hotel staff apologized and decided to 'apologize' by sending a bottle of wine. - In my honest opinion, more could have been done when you're paying 300eur per night. We had a coffee machine and capsules. But the complementary bottle of water was only given once on check in - I've never been to a hotel in Sicily where they didn't give you a bottle of water daily (usually they give you both still and sparkling water) ... Although you could take from the common areas (which close at 7pm) Note - we could have purchased drinks from the mini bar at excessive prices (suites we usually stay at have a complimentary mini bar) Although the room was spacious, it lacked a full length mirror (hence ending up going to the bathroom to check yourself before you're dressed. There wasn't a Tv in the room (although it didn't make a difference to us) Lack of lightning near the wardrobe - so we had to use our mobile phone torch in that area. The fridge overheated and drinks were not cooled properly. Just a note - it would have been nice if the hotel could have sent a small cake or some pastries to compliment the free bottle of wine that was given for our anniversary/ birthday.
The property is an old winery which has been recently turned into a 'hotel'. The views are amazing and the place is peaceful (up to a certain extent) The breakfast is amazing and they have a private chef cooking fresh eggs and also cakes. The spa consists of a sauna leading to an outdoor jacuzzi/hot tub and a beautiful outdoor pool. The electric car charger was definitely a plus for our visit. The suites have your own private outdoor tub which was definitely awesome. Everywhere closed by gates ...the property felt very safe. Don't miss out on the wine tasting...we had a very nice guide explaining everything and answered every question we had. The property was spotless!

United KingdomThe only (extremely minor!) improvement we would suggest would be to make it more obvious where the hotel parking is. Perhaps with a sign or similar!
Dimora Cottanera is a rare find of a hotel. The service is exceptional and cannot be faulted. We informed the staff of our anniversary before arrival - they kindly upgraded us to a room with a private outdoor tub and a beautiful bunch of flowers. The pool has stunning views of the mountains, and the food is unmatched. We particularly enjoyed the “apéritivo hour” and the hotel kindly booked wine tasting and an Etna trek for us.

United KingdomNothing, it was perfect
From arrival to (sadly) departure, we were welcomed with open arms and really made to feel comfortable. The property is exceptionally clean, and the staff are very attentive. There are outstanding views of Etna and the surrounding area. You can even head on up to the winery for an intimate wine tasting, if that tickles your fancy. All round - perfect

MaltaVery cut off with narrow winding roads to get to the property.
Staff were great, especially Selena who was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. The room was spacious and very clean and the views were to die for! The breakfast was also lovely with a multitude of different sweet and savory freshly baked goods every morning.

AustraliaLack of communication about our wine tasting arrangements.. Better information and an email response to our booking request would have meant we would not have missed our anticipated wine tasting. Tastings are on a rigid set time for the day.
How a minor checkin problem was handled with professional ease. Wonderful breakfast and staff... comfortable beds....and the winter room nestled in the vineyard for our morning coffee and sunset glass of wine....and of course the vineyatd's wine. Close to a historic village and great restaurants.
