The location of Hotel Fontebella in Assisi was perfect. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the view of the valley which was really special.

The breakfast was a bit underdone and not very well organised. There were a lot of cakes but never enough breakfast cereal. Who eats cake for breakfast? The coffee machine didn't work so we had to go out for coffee after breakfast. That said, the breakfast room itself was pleasant and the staff were very friendly.

This is a lovely hotel. We spent Christmas there and had an amazing lunch in the restaurant downstairs. The room was very comfortable and had a view that took my breath away. Every afternoon we rushed back to watch the sunset. Amazing! The staff were very friendly and helpful. A wonderful place to stay. Already planning to return!

I had a lovely stay in this traditional Italian hotel, which has absolutely no frills other than wonderfully welcoming staff, and a better-than-usual delicious gluten and dairy free breakfast (requested in advance). I booked for just one person but I still had a lovely big double bed. The shower was super modern and very large, and overall the bathroom super clean and very nice to use. Apart from that, the room was really very basic (eg no kettle etc), but it was what I was expecting after the reviews, and at the price I paid. The room was just set back from a stairwell and noise did travel but I am a very sensitive sleeper and nothing disturbed me during the night. The position is perfect for going to the cathedral and for exploring the centre of Assisi in general. The parking just outside the hotel was easy to find and a huge bonus.

The bathroom layout is quite cramped, it would be best to do away with the tub and have a walk in shower instead. We were also convinced to have dinner at the restaurant on site, which was a fine dining experience, however, as a vegetarian there was almost no choice.

The location was great. We had a room with a mezzanine so it was quite comfortable, it felt as though we were in an apartment. Quite basic, but comfortable.

The hotel was nice, but two things swayed it from being a 10. The weird smell on my floor, on 1st fl and the uneasy feeling i received from the morning breakfast lady. Also, the spiral stairs in my room were very shakey, and i feel coming down. They really need to be tightened up.

The location was centrical to where we wanted to be . Right down the street from the basilica and walking distance to all the other locations we wanted to visit.

Would love to see better breakfast options, but loved my stay!

The location is great, 10 minute walk to the center, 20 minutes from the train station- took a bus because I didn't want to walk uphill. Short walk to Duomo di Assisi which is just absolutely breathtaking. I will say that they cab improve their breakfast for the rate they are charging, but I had a great time.

The air conditioning is shut off when the room reaches your desired temp. The front desk told me they are instructed to do this. So you would go to sleep and wake up stifling hot. Breakfast was mediocre. Strangest scrambled eggs and lousy coffee from a machine. The staff however was accommodating and made us fresh coffees. The elevator is super slow btw.

We had the most beautiful view from our room! The room was spacious, and very comfortable. The bathroom had a nice big shower and good water pressure. I would stay again but not in the hot weather. The restaurant on the property is outstanding for dinner. Definitely eat there!

We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant/bar because it seemed very expensive and that style of fancy food wasn't what we were after, but it obviously had lots of good reviews. For the price I'd have expected a slightly more up to date room. Although very clean and tidy it was fairly basic, could do with a little bit more love/care put into the decor.

The perfect location for exploring Assisi. The hotel staff on arrival where super helpful and friendly, offering advice on how to explore the town and top sites to see. The room itself was nice, perhaps a little basic/dated compared to other places we've stayed. But the view from our room was amazing! The hotel also very kindly looked after our bags on the day we checked out, so that we could continuing exploring before heading to our next destination and helped book us taxis.

Clean, recently renovated with latest technology facilities such as ac unit, door opening etc yet with classic decor. We had a country view room with breath taking views. Daniela was very helpful. The breakfast was very good too.

Our bathroom was tiny and not well designed.

The restaurant in the hotel is outstanding. The food was delicious and highly imaginative. The waiting staff were also excellent. We dined there both nights that we stayed there. The position of the hotel is ideal for exploring and we had a lovely view over the countryside.

The breakfast could have been a lot better. The pastries were always overcooked and the cappuccinos were not of the best!

Our arrival was difficult due to a Peace march. Once we were able to get the car to the hotel we were able to park right in front of the hotel which was very convenient. Our room was looking onto the street which was very noisy. Bed was quite comfortable. Bathroom very small and the bath/shower area was dark and very dangerous (very slippery). All the staff were super nice and the bar in the evening served good cocktails. Their restaurant was amazing and we had a fabulous 5-course meal.
