Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe welcome cocktail is poor, it is the design of the rear area with the pool and the small garden that I found disappointing, otherwise the service level is faultless.
The hotel is more than walking distance from La Maddalena, it is a modern building a bit strangely located, no beach but a small swimming pool at the back of the hotel, the staff is very polite and welcoming, the breakfast buffet is very good, with some local specialties of high standard (cheese for instance, butter biscuits, etc), the rooms are with a very nice finish, high quality furniture and faucets.

SwedenWiFi is rubbish. It's extremely unstable, weak signal, disconnects often and doesn't automatically reconnect. The mobile signal isn't great there either, so if you have important things to do online, keep that in mind. I hope the hotel solves this problem.
Very clean, modern, friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere.

United KingdomRooms don’t have tea or coffee making facilities. Main restaurant too expensive and focussed on sea food for the island when compared to restaurants in Maddalena although there was a very good pizzeria adjacent to the hotel which was reasonably priced though . The price of drinks at the poolside bar was off putting with locally produced Sardinian beer being almost 8 times the price that it is in the supermarket. Disappointing also was the single bottle of complimentary water (for 2 of us in the room) on arrival which was not replaced daily.
Just a stunning boutique hotel with lovely decor and stunning pool and sun lounge areas. Rooms were really stylish and housekeeping was excellent with a turn down service in the evenings. The cleaning staff deserve special recognition as the whole hotel is kept immaculate including the pool areas. Maddalena really is a jewel in the Archipelago of NE Sardinia and the location of the Ma & Ma was great with nearby beach and a pleasant 20 minute walk into the charming town with plenty of bars and restaurants.

Germanythe Restaurant has almost only fisch or seafood on the menu. for non -fisch people are not so many options if you want to go for diner entire holiday. Of course you have also a Pizzeria but also you can not eat pizza every day.
Very clean and good organized hotel. The Sea tour with La dolce vita boat is also a highlight. You are pretty near to the beach, city and you have directly 2 options to eat(restaurant and a Pizzeria).

United KingdomThe drinks were very expensive - which we understand for a cocktail but it felt unreasonable for beers and wine, especially as we’ve stayed at multiple other hotels in Sardinia over the last couple weeks and there was always an option for a cheaper beer/wine. The hotel style felt a little more corporate rather than comfortable.
We loved la Maddalena islands - it was possible to walk into the town from the hotel in about 30 minutes which was a good option in the evening. The beaches and town area on the island are beautiful. The breakfast at the hotel was amazing and the pool area was nice and clean. Our room was also very clean - and we appreciated the dressing gowns and towels!

Very delicious breakfast, room and bed were very comfortable. A/C works great and goes to 20 C Pool is great and bar service at the pool is efficient. Short walk to punta tegge which has beautiful small beaches for swimming and snorkelling, a great spot to watch the sunset and a delicious restaurant Zi Anto. The spa in the hotel is amazing and has amazing facilities.

FranceThe nonstop music in the garden/pool area. The speakers are scattered throughout the garden in false rocks, so it is impossible to find somewhere calm and peaceful to sit. You permanently have music belting out at you. In the two weeks that we were at the hotel, there were perhaps a couple of half days when the music was more mellow and in the background, but for the most part it was like being beside a beach disco - something I hadn’t expected in a 5 star hotel. Also, only about a third of the seating area in the garden has sun umbrellas, meaning that it is often virtually impossible to find seating in the shade. I would also agree with many of the people who have commented about it not really being up to the quality expected in a 5 star hotel. There are lots of small points that for me reduce its rating. On arrival, we received 1 small complimentary bottle of water in our room for 2 people. (I regularly stay in a 4 star hotel in Toulouse, France, where we receive 2 complimentary bottles of water every day). The fact that there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. They are only in the suites. (Again, this is standard in most of Europe for 3 star hotels and up). In 4 star hotels with a spa that I have previously stayed in in France and the Uk, the basic spa facilities - pool, sauna etc (obviously not any treatments ) are included in the price. Here, you have to pay for that. I have tea for breakfast and two thirds of the teapots that I received had no lids! I had to cover the pot with my saucer to keep the tea warm. As I said, all small points, but it is these additional small things that make all the difference.
The hotel is within walking distance of some lovely little coves and beaches and a great little restaurant with extremely friendly personnel - Zi’Anto. The area around the hotel is very calm. Lovely, good sized pool.

United KingdomPool shuts too early in the evening. I think the amount of money they ask to use the spa on top of the room rate is too much. The spa is nice but not that amazing. Hair conditioner in the bathroom would be good please.
The hotel is lovely, pool, spa, location, staff. I recommend the boat trip!

FranceWe did not use the spa because it was busy, even though you receive a free two hour pass and it really didn't look inviting, looked more like a sweaty dungeon. Treatment prices were very expensive so we didn't bother. The breakfast experience was very disappointing for a luxury hotel. Buffet style in a rather cramped room was unpleasant with limited options, it really does need a rethink by management to improve the experience. To be honest I would give it a 5 out of 10. If it was in the main restaurant and there were options such as eggs to order, rather than scraping the last dried bit of scrambled egg from the dish. We did not eat in the restaurant, the evening menu is put on the breakfast table with price of 55euros for four course meal without drinks. Beware that everything in the room is not included and you have to pay for the biscuits and mini-bar of course.
The cleaning staff were fantastic, turning down the rooms twice a day, always very pleasant and were the stars of the hotel in our opinion. The pool was a delight, very clean and inviting. The pool staff were also excellent, maintaining the pool area in a spotless condition. The bean-bag sun beds were so comfortable and relaxing. We had a room with balcony, which was pleasant with a small view of the sea. We asked for a topper on the bed, the bed was very, very comfortable. As we were there for two weeks we asked for and were provided with a kettle in the room. The hotel is a 20 minute pleasant walk into town. To arrive we took a taxi from Olbia airport, 50 minutes, the ferry over which takes 20 minutes and a taxi to the hotel 15euros. During our stay we walked into town the first day to pick up electric bikes which were bit expensive, about 600euros for two for 12 days but so enjoyable. It is the best way to explore the island, and adjoining Caprera with the Garibaldi museum and monument, or over on the ferry to Palau. Each evening we would go for a bike ride round the island then drop in to town for an evening drink. I would definitely recommend the hotel, but just be aware that it is very good but I would not say superb, which is a shame.
