How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The location was okay, very busy street and there was some construction across the street that was very noisy.
Everything was wonderful! The value was great and very affordable for 3 nights. Gisella was so sweet and kind to us as soon as we arrived. Very attentive to our needs and had some great recommendations for dinner :) Overall, we enjoyed our stay!!

Ignazio and his wife are wonderful hosts. The place is extremely clean, the room is spacious with a nice bed and great shower. There is also a balcony and there are even drinks and small bites available for breakfast. Definitely recommend to stay here!

Extreamly clean and comfortable accommodation! The room and common area are equiped with all the utilities you could use, modernly furnished and quiet. The hosts are nice and helpful and there is also free parking in front of the building or the option of a private paid parking if you would want to choose. We really enjoyed our short stay.

Great place to stay with great people running the place. The owners met us personally and gave us the key to the room, explained every single detail of the lovely place they built and were also available via Whatsapp for any questions. We spontaneously decided to stay another night even though we wanted to move on - which speaks for itself!

Nothing, everything was wonderful very welcoming staff.
Great location walking to center, safe, clean, very modern, spacious for Europe, met the owner she was very friendly, kind, spoke English, and accominating. Definitely would recommend if your stay is in Cefalu

Amazing rent in Cefalu. The room was better than expected with a very nice balcony. Great location too. The hosts were lovely and accommodating. Highly recommended!

The walls are a bit thin, so it was noisy during the night. If you are a light sleeper, make sure to bring earplug’s.
Very welcoming staff, and a wonder welcome since it was our honeymoon. We got an amazing breakfast, which wasn’t included, but got it anyway. Also the location was amazing.

The shared kitchen stovetop was not available for cooking. However the owner helped us cook our quinoa in his kitchen.
Owners very friendly and hospitable. Very nice people that look after their guests. They gave me a towel to use at the beach, stored my luggage and gave us breakfast! Great location, great rooms and installations. Spacious and comfortable.

A very nice and tidy room, it looked exactly like on the pictures! The staff very friendly and helpful, there was even free breakfast prepared although it is not described! A perfekt location to explore Cefalù, we hadn‘t so much time but I would come back again!

The breakfast was good but we missed fresh croissants/bread and savoury spreads.
Location and the room were just perfect. Close to the beach, you could walk to the city center and the room is newly renovated and exellent. Would definently stay again.

We came tired from the trip and felt so good when everything in Liola worked smoothly- the owners were there to welcome us (warmly!), the room was perfectly tidy, there was water in the fridge, tea, coffee, and biscuits laid out for the guests. The room had a lovely, clean and functional balcony overlooking the street below- perfect for an evening aperitivo (the glasses and the corkscrew were available too, every detail was taken care of). We felt refreshed the next morning and only regret not staying for a little bit longer.
