Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAfter check-in I told the staff at the reception that toilet wasn’t flushing and asked if someone could have a look as we were going out for the afternoon. When we came back nothing was fixed ant the smell that came from toilet was horrible.

BrazilInternet connection was ok. Location great too. Seems like they just need a better staff team.
The bathroom was very dirty and I could not even used. There was not a good customer service and the receptionist was rude. There is no silence rules and I believe that would be wise to create at least on the room. The fridge was very small and I heard other clients complaining. The worse was the cleaner state of the Roon and the bathroom, absolutely terrible.

PolandOnly warm water in the shower, not hot water. Poor drainage in the shower. The broken faucet spills water over the sink. Unfortunately, the fungus on the wall after flooding the ceiling. Very, extremely noisy in the building on Friday night.
Comfortable beds. Staff very helpfull. You can safely store your luggage. A bit earlier check-in was possible. Nice and clean kitchen with microwave.

United StatesEh look for the price you pay and the closeness to Termini, it's one of the better hostels in that area. I would book this over other nearby hostels.
Good location but standard hostel accommodations- good bed, locker, decent shower and bathroom in each room. I also felt really safe with the level of keys/locks to get into the room.

PortugalThe room has air conditioner but it is charged to use it and this was not in the description. The street has a pub in front of the hostel and it was very noisy. Also the check out we were not able to put the key in the box because no one answer the door in the lobby we have to go back in our room and left the key over there. The room was not as good as in the photos, the door, paint needs repairs. the wi fi signal was veryyyyy poor
the bathroom was clean and has a good shower

AustriaActually the hostel is really good for sich a price!!I wanted rate 10/10,but then… -The receptionist had no change.Because you should pay city tax in cash(3,5€).Ok,its 0,50€,but still!I was asked for that 2 times and he knew i will spent 1 night there. So i don’t know, was he too lazy or is it usual thing to have extra money from visitors…So after i said to him that its not nice,he gave me 0,50€ in 2cent coins😅Fine. -They dont have numbers on the beds and boxes for your stuff in the room,so,there was dome guy,who came at 3:30 in the night and started to yell at other guy, cause he thoght it eas his bed(🙃).So,he has dame keys, but somehow there was no free bed for him!Reception was closed and all of us were angry and it changed totally my opinion. -There were couples, who were sleeping at 1 bed,so i guess they pay for 1,but i dont think its nice, keep an eye on those things
Cheap,clean,comfortable beds,sheets included

PortugalOne of the worst cleaned places I've ever been. Some places of the room, especially in the bathroom have definilty not beem cleaned for ages - you can see stains everywhere. Everything in general was poorly cared for, from the room to the common places. The small table cloth was anything but white from the amount of stains it had. I could spot some hair on the rooms floor as soon as I entered the room. Plus, photos on the website don't really match what you get in real life. In the kitchenette, there were stuff you couldn't touch since they were so grease and the common room was absolutely dusty. Even the building stairs and hall were always missing some cleaning. They don't seem to care much for room maintance - when I tried to close the cortains, they just ripped appart, the shower top was all dislocated and the toilet lid was broken and kept getting out of place. Wifi doesn't work in the room. Staff is nice but they don't seem to care much for good customer service - for example, when asked where the nearest ATM was, they just point a place but didn't bother to mentione that one has extra charges for widthrawing and that if you walk 5 meters you can get one that doesn't, The place is not so cheap, so unless you cannot find other place or your just staying for a night, I do not recommend.
Location was great since it's just around the corner from Rome Termini Train Station. Room was spacious enough and bed was small but confortable. There's TV (but don't get to excited since you'll only see sales channels)

SpainThere is no warm shower. They say it is due to the season, but the thing is that you can't have a warm shower after a tiring day, you must do it with "cold" water and that really wasted me. Cleanliness. They need to clean more often. I spent there three days and I left having to go to the bathroom with the same random and dirty underwear abandoned next to the sink (picture). Obviously it the bath wasn't cleaned. The same happened with the toilet, it was broken, so you had to go to one outside the room (picture). There were no expectations of fixing it. Otherwise, the bedsheets were clean, BUT the matress and pillow smelled so bad.

AustriaThere was no kitchen/common room, you never met people outside of your room + I was a girl alone staying in a room full of guys (which I booked, so I expected it) but some of the guys were just straight up creepy! Not the hostels fault, but maybe starting one room just for girls would be nice. Plus, it’s very noisy in the morning and at night, if you’re a light sleeper bring ear plus. Also, probably pretty important: the toilet was not really working, which was pretty annoying.
The city center was within walking distance (~ 30 minutes to the spanish steps) and the buses/trains stop right next to the hotel. Super comfortable if you’re coming by train!

MexicoBad front desk staff, I was assigned the wrong room and the guy in turn didn't make any effort to fix it saying there wasn't any room available, after chatting with the people in my actual room they told me my bed had been free since I arrived. I could only fix this one night after when a different staff member came along, so I paid for a 4 room for 7 days but stayed in a 6 people room for one night due to the staff's apathy.
They cleaning staff are great and nice, they clean everyday!

United KingdomThere were bed bugs!! And the bathrooms smelt like poo, I don’t think the bidets are cleaned. The showers were mouldy and disgusting. After I reported the bed bugs the receptionist told me that it can’t be true despite pictures. The hostel moved me to a new bed and then decided to put new covers on my old bed and didn’t inform the other guests that there were bed bugs in that room. The bed was number 2 in room 102. My new bed then had the lovely feature of chewing gum named into the corner. After taking it up with the booking com customer service for the hostel they decided to gaslight me despite me doing exactly what they said I should have done and they now aren’t responding to me. I want a refund and I’m getting the health inspectors involved.
I love how aggressive the male receptionist is, you go king set your boundaries. He promised a refund and now the hostel is refusing a refund 💅 that and I guess it is right outside the train station.
