Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyIt's not particularly clean...When we arrived we smelled chlor from cleaning something but taking a closer look I cannot say it was. Specifically the shower and the towels.
It was super close to everything and you were able to reach all the important stops quickly. There were a lot of restaurants nearby as well. The Personal was very nice and friendly to chat to.

SerbiaThis hostel definitily don't worth that price. Before Covid, such dumbs worth up to 20€/night which was fine. This option is just for 2 or 3 nights maximum, since they don't change sheets and towels, neitheir there is an option to pay for change. The big minus is that they don't have reception until 1PM, so if you have early arrival you have to leave lugguage at train station. Evenmore, if you come later than 11PM they will charge you 20€+ This place is not reccomendable at all, but since there are not so many options in Rome, they will continue to run like that. Its a pitty why this dumb is working at all.
Location, and only location.

AustraliaThe showers were mostly cold, I think you have to be the first one in the morning in order to get a hot shower. And I prefer blanket sheets that cover the whole blanket. Don't understand the system with the sheet and the 'naked' blanket on top. Since we only paid around 60€ per night in such a central area I didn't expect anything super luxurious. So it was great for the price and would come back if I visited Rome again.
I think it's really great for the price. The owner is nice and easy going and the place is quiet and close by the termini and the central bus station. Everything you need is close by and easy to walk to. To the Trevi fountain it is just a 20min walk. The 2-bed room is cozy and fine with an ensuite bathroom. It was clean when we arrived. I like that the bathroom has a window.

We are students. Our experience was very good for the price. We got 4-bed room for ourselves. Room was simple and clean. Heating worked. Great central location close to subway and central station. The streets around felt safe.

IndiaTo be honest everything. To start with, the receptionist was very rude. He did not give us our booked room, he asked us to walk to another building with all the luggage to some random apartment. We booked room with three twins room, however we got room with one double bed in some random building. When complained, the receptionist threaten us with the money back and kick us out of the hotel at 8 pm in night. Overall terrible experience
Location was close to public transport and train stations

RomaniaLocation is great and the price is also great - for this price in this location everything else is optional - can't expect 5 stars comfort in a hostel - so all as expected from my side, again in this price range. From an expectations point of view - it's not your regular cool youth hostel - it's more of an affordable central accommodation, where you rest throughout your travels - nothing more, nothing less. Private bathroom was a must for us, so all good form this aspect also. A bit noisy on the hallways and from the opposite street restaurant, but not too bad.

United KingdomPLEASE READ AS A WARNING BEFORE BOOKING!! Hotel Roma, also called two ducks hostel or as we like to call it, hotel Hellaroma was a stay like no other. First of all after a 10 hour train delay (which me had mentioned) we were left standing on the door step knocking with no answer. After a 2 hour wait we were let in, and we’re told we had to wait for our room to be cleaned or we could take a smaller room further away- as both options weren’t even in the building we booked. On the plus side we were told we could leave our bags for the wait, however this was just in a corridor next to other rooms. After spending the day out the owner kindly helped to carry our bags as the room was a few streets away from the hostel and up a few flights of stairs with no lift. When we turned up to the room it turned out to be an apartment not a hotel room, with all doors hard to lock and un lock, and all windows and door to balcony within the apartment couldn’t shut (didn’t even have handles). That night we discovered due to the uncleanliness of the communal areas there were ants and bugs all over everything, including the kitchen counters and the shower. The next day we returned in the evening after a day out, and we discovered that all of our food (about €50+) which was brand new and sealed , our phone chargers and a diary which were all in one big bag, as well as a top and hoodie we’re missing from our belongings which we left in the communal area (which was shared with 2 other people). We asked about this and were told that the cleaner had removed and binned them, as he thought they belonged to the previous occupants of our room, despite it being cleaned the day prior supposedly, which we now believe it wasn’t, which explains the mess and unhygienic room we walked in to.

BulgariaThe host was very hard to reach, we didn't have air conditioning and it was like a sauna, the water pressure in the sinks and the showers was very low and it smells like old people.
The location was next to the center of Rome which was great but it was in a hood-like neighborhood which is very dangerous at night.
