Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

MaltaIt felt like we were the first guests in the newly decorated room. Many things missing such as an extra chair for clothes, in the bathroom no hooks to hang or where one could place anything. No safety box in the room as the receptionist said they havnt arrived yet.The worst part was that the water of the shower runs right out to the front door and shower handle came off. All is brand new but unfortunately bad workmanship! Aircon doesn’t function and when we reported the problem they acknowledged to fix it but it still wasn’t working by the evening. The next day same thing! It was a good thing the temperatures weren’t freezing. A pity I would recommend but the hotel still needs the finishing touches …
The location is fantastic and close to the main square, shops and restaurants. The hotel has just been renovated beautifully.

MaltaHotel Continentale changed our accommodation to the Modernist Hotel due to ongoing renovations. the Modernist Hotel was good and comfortable, therefore this has nothing to do with the Modernist Hotel per se. Nevertheless, we would have appreciated if communication about the change in our accommodation was done before our free cancellation deadline and not exactly the day after this deadline had passed (even more so when renovations had been ongoing for a while). Thankfully we liked the new hotel, but if we didn't we were given a Hobson's choice since we couldn't cancel it for free anymore even though we had paid a premium to have the free cancellation option.
We stayed at the Modernist Hotel since there were ongoing renovations at Hotel Continentale. Location is central (just round the corner of Hotel Continentale) and the room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was also very good.

SerbiaOrdering breakfast like in a restaurant, before self-service breakfast was so much better. There is even a feeling of discomfort when ordering from the menu. Also the bread that is served is very poor as if it is a very expensive food item, sweet croissants are given instead of bread, and also the bread is of poor quality (it is not in the hotel standard for 4 stars)

United KingdomBreakfast. Some of the staff were surly. Apart from one of the young women, they could all do with smiling and looking like they valued customers. The food was dull and a bit bizarre - muesli turned out to be two desert spoons of granola. When asked if we wanted milk, a large bowl of milk appeared to tip the granola into! It would work so much better if it was self-service buffet. That way could select the bread wanted rather than being presented with a basket of unwanted items. And choice of cooked breakfast was fried eggs or scrambled eggs only.
Great location and room was quiet, comfortable and staff were excellent.

Australia!Room 503! Had read a review where previous guests had requested a room change. We booked 5 nights & arrived late after 8 hrs travel & unpacked before realising.The hotel features stating would have canal or city views. However absolutely no views at all. The access door opened onto area surrounded by black colour bond fence (due to air conditioners being on other side), plus had large skylight for lower floors. Ugly area which was unusable unless a smoker. Weather lovely & very warm while there. Due to black enclosed fence the air conditioner could not cool adequately even at night.
Excellent, excellent location. In the hub, on the canals & easy accessible to restaurants, markets, shops & tours pick up points. Reception team very friendly & extremely helpful. Enjoyed a lovely meal in the hotel restaurant, with helpful guide to select right wine.

NetherlandsThe hotel should communicate the adress to give your GPS for the drop off place in the side street, the hotel address is in the pedestrian area. During our stay the main lift was out of order for two days. The shower crucible was too small for comfort (a larger one could have easily fitted in the bathroom).
This is a classic hotel in the heart of Trieste. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, clean, quiet and well equipped. Everything in the centre of town is within easy walking distance. Valet service to park the car after drop off of luggage (€ 25/day).
