How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Everything was great!
The hotel is very old in a good way. The beds were super comfortable. Loved having the kettle in the room with real cups-not paper!

The lift was too tiny and being claustrophbic, I could not use it. Climbing stairs for 4 floors and then going up and down was not the most pleasant experience. That was the only thing I did not like about the property but I also don't know that there is a way to change it.
The hotel was ideally located and had an excellent view of the Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggiore! Loved the rooftop, the breakfast was good and sufficient and I really enjoyed it. Roxana at the reception was amazing and so incredibly helpful. She was able to secure me a reservation at La Carbonara for dinner, which is a place I really wanted to go to. I also enjoyed my late night drink at the rooftop bar so overall a good experience and a pleasant stay. Lastly, I asked for a late checkout last minute and the hotel was quite accommodating, which I really appreciated since my flight out was later in the afternoon.

We couldn't be happier with our hotel selection in Rome. Super convenient & central location, brand new rooms (with comfortable beds & pillows), amazing view from the rooftop and, most importantly, incredible staff! Thank you so much for such a comfortable and memorable visit, we'll be back.

The staff were amazing. Very welcoming and friendly. Our flight also got cancelled and the hotel was full so the front desk helped find us a new hotel while we ain’t breakfast without us asking for any assistance. Truly helpful and genuinely helpful good people!

this was not a problem for us, but very steep narrow stairs and the lift capacity was limited. Absolutely no use for anyone with any type of disability.
the property was compact as is often the case with city hotels but at the same time charming with the added bonus of an open air roof top where breakfast was served.

Elevator was a little tight. one person, one bag.
The central location was perfect. we were able to walk to all major attractions, restaurants and train station. Our room was large and comfortable. The roof top bar and breakfast area was fantastic. We could see the Coliseum.

Nothing. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Doria Palace.
An excellent boutique hotel with wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Lovely roof top bar to enjoy a drink at the end of the evening. The breakfast was fantastic value with a great selection. Highly recommended. Also…one of the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever slept in!

Stairs after a long day of walking.
Lovely hotel, perfect for what you need in the centre of Rome. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a fabulous start to the day on the rooftop terrace. Rooms immaculate and beds super comfy. All major sights in walking distance. We would definitely stay here again.

Elevator is quite small - one person with a trolley doesn't really fit inside it. WiFi did not work properly. It went on and off quite a lot.
Hotel is relatively close to center and about 15 minutes walk from the train station.

Nothing really. Guest that may have difficulty with stairs need to be aware that the lift is very small and only fits one person at a time. There are 5 levels of rooms, and the breakfast is in the 6th floor.
Great location; only 7 minutes walk from Rome Termini train station, right next to the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore and 15 mins walk to the Colosseo. comfortable, clean room and lovely roof top bar where breakfast is also served. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
