How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

There is no parking on site.
The breakfast and staff were great! Alessandro at the front desk was most helpful. Very comfortable stay. Nice boutique hotel with renovated bathroom.

Please update the price of the parking garage: we paid 25 euros for a day (it was ok, but more than stated by the property). The showers should be improved: whenever you use them, there is a flood on the floor.
Great location, close to the port and at a walking distance from the city center. Parking garage nearby. Room big enough with a comfortable bed. Professional personnel, after the check-out we could leave our luggage there with no additional cost.

The location. I was a little scared to get to the hotel in the evening.
The hotel is perfect. The room was clean and large, the shower was modern, the breakfast was delicious, and there was enough of everything. The staff is very helpful. I liked this hotel .

The only thing that could be a downside is that the door needs to be open by receptionist and during the evening/ night you often have to wait longer for someone to notice you. A bell to ring the door when you’re outside waiting would’ve been useful.
The room was clean and had everything you need for a pleasant stay. The bed was comfortable and so was the bathroom. The location is perfect, the buffet breakfast worth the price. The hotel staff is helpful and attentive. The hotel is close to a busy street, but the windows are amazingly sealed and you don’t hear a sound, big plus!

For a 3 stars hotel, I expected more in terms of equipment. Although the furnitures were all brand new, a kettle and a more comfortable bed would have been nice. Tips : add a card system for opening the main door in the lobby after "closing time" so that the personal don't have to do it and guest feel more independent.

Shower is very unpractical, without door and after bath there is water everywhere on the floor. It was a little bit cold in the room

Lack of ‘do not disturb’ sign for door - a trivial issue but this would have prevented the awkwardness of staff knocking on our door whilst we were having a lie-in!
Clean, modern look and friendly staff, plus one of the best breakfast buffets we’ve ever had!! Would stay again.

The receptionist in the afternoon was so awful when we enter our room there is an empty wet bottle and 3 used glasses the floor is super dusty and the linen are stained as if the room was just vacant an hour we arrived and therefore used and not clean, we called the receptionist to inform them, but the receptionist told us it was clean. And so he sent the head of cleaners and the man came over and told us that we should go down in receptionist to change the room. But when go to the receptionist he said that the head cleaners told him that he checked and the room is clean. Omg! He don’t accept the fact that the room was super dirty and he doesn’t want to send someone to clean it infact he said; ur prenotation is two single bed and we give u single bed and double bed which we didnt asked him to do. That doesn’t justified that the cleanliness of the room is not important at all because they gave us a big bed. We we’re also terrified that the location wasnt safe at all just ouside the hotel was group of loud drunkard men and smells of weeds And so we’re so scared to stay late outside. No netflix. My baby was bitten by mosquittos we have to leave early
The woman receptionist in morning shift gave us hotwater for our babys milk so with the night shift man which he offfered to bring us in the room that was so good of him. And location closed to train station and metro train.

Location, had to ask for toilet paper as they gave you just one, and on checkout day staff knocked and almost loitered outside door for me to leave.
Clean and functional. Staff were available and friendly but very functional only hotel.

I requested for a double bed however we got two single attached together and at night time the beds would spread apart which caused me falling in the middle of both beds,’made my sleeping very uncomfortable, also the bed sheets didn’t have any buttons on it and the duvet would remain without the cover! Also just a recommendation please replace the light in the elevator as it gives you a migraine with the colour changes!

I arrived in Genoa to find that the hotel DID NOT EXIST. The one that had been at that address was CLOSED for renovation and there WERE NO ROOMS in the hotel! They confirmed my reservation through Booking.com by email 2 weeks before I arrived. They didn't cancel the booking or contact me about the closure. I turned up at 7:30pm on a Saturday night in a country where I couldn't speak the language, and walked through a dim lit area only to be told to find somewhere else to stay. Eventually, the guy got me a room in the New Alexander Hotel next door (a really fabulous hotel) - after I burst into tears. As a solo, older female traveller who uses Booking.com frequently, I was disgusted to find my booking through Booking.com was for all intense and purpose a scam booking.
Hotel didn't exist - but it would have been in a convenient location to the cruise terminal if it did!
