Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing, apart from my first bed which was sorted.
The staff were helpful, pleasant and welcoming. The bed I had at first was not good for my sore back, so they very kindly upgraded me to a double. The location is very close to the station and airport shuttle, and there are good places to eat and drink nearby.

United KingdomAir-con was not on and appeared to be centrally controlled - no controller in the room. Were not able to ask staff about this as did not realise until we returned late in day and reception was closed. There was a heatwave whilst we were there so had a very sticky night.
Hotel Maria is very well situated for Pisa railway station with fast, frequent monorail link to the airport. There a range of restaurants within 5 minutes walk, but also only 10-15 mins walk from main centre of Pisa, and 30-40 mins walk to Leaning Tower. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Room was good size, though en-suite bathroom was quite small. Very clean. Facilities in room were good - TV, small fridge, safe, reasonable storage. Bed was comfy.

MaltaMaybe a few more hangers for the clothes would have been ideal but honestly nothing else, it was perfect.
Highly recommend this hotel. The staff are the sweetest ever and went above and beyond to assist us in everything we required. Apart from the hotel room, we had also booked a parking spot with the hotel in a nearby garage at the price of €25 per day which was extremely worth it since it saved us the hassle of parking. The hotel also has a bar at the entrance were we had a coffee and a croissant every morning at very reasonable prices. Room was clean and comfortable. No noise could be heard from outside so we slept very well. Bathroom is basic but very clean and had everything necessary. Towels were replaced daily and were very clean. The lovely lady at the reception even called us a taxi when we needed to go to the airport. They also provide a service to hold your luggage even if you are not staying at their hotel at a charge. Location was very central, within walking distance to Pisa centre where there are all the shops, restaurants and the Campo dei Miracoli. Also very very close to the train station. Thank you to all the staff at Hotel Maria, you made our stay comfortable and carefree.

United KingdomNot much choice for breakfast but plenty of cafes close by for more variety.
Loved the style of the room. Great shower, comfortable bed. Friendly, helpful staff. Easy to get to from the airport by the Pisamover shuttle to Pisa Centrale station then a 5 minute walk. The train station is also convenient for visiting other locations

United KingdomVery very small bathroom, luckily I am only a smaller person but anyone taller would have issues sitting on the toilet. I could not control aircon myself, controlled through reception which I did not like. Could hear absolutely everything from rooms around me and above me, I presume it was residential living above the hotel as I could hear them scraping chairs back and forth, dropping items, kept me awake at night and woke me up very early in the morning. As per signage about helping hotel and environment, I left towels hung up on rail provided as did not need them changing but I received new towels everyday, seems silly to have a sign about ‘helping the environment’ when they will be taken away and changed regardless. Needed help working the shutters, signage in room would help customers know how to work them.
Staff really friendly, lovely clean room.

United KingdomCould be a slightly better choice of food for breakfast.
Reading the reviews I felt a bit nervous about staying there but the hotel actually exceeded my expectations. Everything I needed was there and the room was very comfortable. I think the facilities must have been updated because you definitely can operate the A/C from your room with a remote. Might be a bit noisy as the hotel is very close to the train station but at night it was perfectly quiet. And excellent location for the train station and the airport, especially when you can get a shuttle train from the station to the airport! And Maria and others were very helpful. Would not hesitate to stay there again. Thank you!

IrelandMy room, on the 1 st floor, overlooked the road and it was very noisy at night with revelers singing and shouting in the street below. However, that is what you have to expect at such a central city location.
The staff were friendly and helpful, I was able to leave my bags safely before check in time, and go exploring Pisa, without baggage. The hotel was only a few minutes easy walk from the train station. It was a pleasant walking distance to the Leaning tower of Pisa and numerous cafes and restaurants and shops, which was great.
