Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomA personal touch to 'soften' the single room decor.
Superb! The gardens are exceptional. The creative idea of a table and two chairs in different secluded settings works so well. The pool was a real treat. New, pristine and a beautiful setting. Very comfy cabanas in attractive settings. Peace! Food was excellent. Wide variety of items at breakfast such as apple strudel! Delicious. Lunch and dinner were both very good. Very impressive spa. Thank you to all staff for your care and attentionm

United StatesOur comfort room was the size of a stateroom on a cruise, with the only difference being the tall ceiling. So it was too tiny to be comfortable. We only had 2 carry on suitcases and were running out of space. Also the decor was too dated (bulky 90s wood stuff). I think the room could have been more pleasant if it used minimalist modern furniture and had a bath facelift (also the shower pressure was non-existent).
The garden of Eden around the villa and everything there, the pool, the rest areas, Teresa the cat were phenomenal. The common areas were right out of a movie set taking you back to the early 20th century. Great views from the balcony and quite romantic from the outside and the common areas. The staff were very friendly and efficient.

SwitzerlandThe breakfast buffet could be more diversified The bathroom was really small and the positioning of the toilet in the bathroom very impractical The WiFi is horribly slow... that has to be fixed The charge for the pet (EUR 15 per day) is a rip off considering that a cat isn't generating any additional work for the staff (we did all the cat-support)
Ideal location, walking distance to the Corso Italia and to the beach front. Nice property, with a beautiful garden and a pleasant relaxing area (outside) Reasonably large room, with a very comfortable bed Very kind and efficient staff

United KingdomThe hotel is placed in beautiful gardens and has many lovely places to sit under trees and shrubs to enjoy the shade and the beauty of the surrounding plants. The pool is nicely arranged in the garden and a SPA is available. The room was practical and well set out with a large continental double bed and properly functioning air conditioning, which allowed a great nights sleep. The staff is incredibly friendly and supportive and gave excellent recommendations and service. The surrounding area has much to discover and there is lots to do. The nearest beach (pebble beach) is a 10 minutes walk away and one can stop on the way at some lovely ice cream shops. I would love to go back tomorrow!

United StatesDinner at the hotel could have been more interesting. Kind of plain food, but we noticed Northern European travelers there, so maybe that’s the preference?
The hotel staff was so welcoming, which is always a great start! The hotel itself is an oasis of tranquility- beautiful gardens, a relaxing atmosphere & a nice sized pool. Our room was a suite, so while we didn’t need the extra space, it gave us an airy feeling. The room was very comfortable; decor was simple which we prefer instead of overly fussy & fancy. We faced front, towards the street & enjoyed the view over the gardens looking at the town. Quick walk to the beach- they recommended a private beach which was great. Breakfast was wonderful & while dinner was good, I would suggest eating out for dinner. Easy walk up to Old Bordighera, a highlight of the trip. We enjoyed the grounds & eating outdoors. Loved it!

United Kingdomnothing, it was a lovely hotel
the staff were excellent, especially the young man who spoke several different languages, he was really friendly and helpful, gave us great directions fro the best route out to the motorway and made a really great latte macchiato. restuarant was good with great service and buffet breakfast which was included had a good choice. the property was in a good location, the room was very clean bright and airy with good air con. building works are going on next door but we hardly noticed any noise from it. the pool area was lovely and there was a large choice of different seating areas around the pool and gardens. parking was secure and we had a undercover parking space for our motorcycles on our second night

BrazilA free frigobar with water, beer and soft drinks would be a welcome touch that guests might enjoy. Several hotels offer this kind of courtesy to their guests nowadays.
Old-world charm in Bordighera: this is an accurate description of Villa Elisa. An old, well-kept, late 19th-century villa on the high part of town, with a lovely view of the Mediterranean in the distance. Our room had a balcony overlooking a beautiful garden and the town below. We enjoyed the atmosphere, the cordiality of the staff, the lovely swimming pool and the excellent breakfast that was served every morning. We would love to return one day.
