hard to say which was the most outstanding aspect - the view or the staff. so I’ll go with a both of both. friendly, helpful and caring staff. and the view - spectacular and unique.

The perfect location! It’s quiet and the tourist attraction. I like that it has the view of the Muglia and the Sassi Caveoso. The view at the terrace for breakfast and a night cap is fab!! Also the staff is super friendly. I loved my hotel cave room. Perfect for a solo petite Asian traveler ☺️

I love this place! Matera is magical and Il Belvedere was just the icing on the cake for me. From the warm and informative reception from Simone and the kindness from Davide, to the location and the aesthetic and the ample breakfast…I really could not have asked for a more delightful stay. The small single room fit perfectly with the Matera vibe, and the location was perfetto! I will absolutely be back, and I have already recommended the hotel to friends and family. Wonderful!

Unfortunately my room was on a top floor and had no view or cave walls. However the room was lovely.

Lovely hotel set within cave. Room was good size with everything you require. The balcony had an amazing view. Nice lounge area. We departed at 6 am and we were allowed to help ourself to juice, yoghurt, cereal, biscuits before leaving and we were all made a cappuccino when the first staff arrived. Very helpful staff and we were allowed early access to rooms once cleaned. There is a lift that luggage can be sent to the first floor.

A beautiful small hotel, perfectly clean and run by very welcoming, friendly people. The rooms are spacious, the beds very comfy, the breakfast buffet was plenty but the best part is THE VIEW of the old town from the terrace, probably one of the best locations to sip your morning coffee or aperitivo and take in the sheer beauty of Matera.

Everything was excellent. Our room did not have a view of the Sassi, but the terrace and common areas were terrific.

The breakfast was abundant and taking it out to the terrace to enjoy the view was a bonus. Parking was very easy and close to the hotel. You can drive right up to the hotel to unload and then drive around to the next street above to the public parking lot which is very close.
